Comments: I bought this car in January 2009 from my brother, in a completely standard state.

As a Polo E, it had very little equipment as standard, so i set out to make it into " a nice motor " !

I started by adding central locking and an alarm, followed by the cup holder from an SE. Next i found some polo alloys and a head unit. Before i knew it it was in this state!

Comments welcome

Enjoy!

How hard was it to fit the cup holder? Is it a straight fit or need modification?

Nice car btw!

Getting the blank out from underneath the stereo is the tough part, there are 2 really inaccessible screws inside! i used a certain amount of brute force and ignorance to get the blank out and had to do a little trimming to get the cupholder in

What do the three flick switches do?

^^

ditto.

Great to see another TidyVagger/SouthCoastPoloer! I do like 6n2s, especially in this colour. I'm not even going to say lower it.. whoops!

hopefully see you at some meets when i can get time off work ;)

What do the three flick switches do?

rocket launchers ??

its for nos hes got 3 tanks in his boot let hope he dont blow thw welds on the intake and fry the piston rings

1 is for sub/amp power, one other is for the blue accent lighting in boot. The others dont have uses (yet) - 1 will be for front fogs

na dont do fogs do rocketlaunchers !!

I like the fact that you've cut the back bumper for your exhaust, and it's not too OTT. Also think the flick switch thingys are funky.

Nice base to start with. :)

thanks for the comments guys!

plate is a bit marmite but i fancied making it stand out and it was an easy mod, it'll do until i can clean the bumpstrips off

Me and my dad will be knocking together the fogs tomorrow and i'm changing the angel eye ring bulbs for led ones- pics to follow!

Ok so after the best part of a day with the bumper off, i now have some front fogs knocked together from mk4 golf projector lenses:

Photo0078.jpg

Bought some gti foglight grills from t'ebay,

Plugged them with some blanks made from a bit of gutter, held on with some subtle zip ties.

Photo0080.jpg

next step was to weather proof the projectors, first with generous amounts of lacquer on the steel parts, then by fitting some rubber sleeves from bicycle inner tubes

Photo0081.jpg

After cutting a big hole (58mm) in the blank, the projector was then pushed through until flush against the lugs on the back

This seems t hold it pretty well, as the projector is a frustrum, but we secured the back with a few zip ties to be sure.

Photo0086.jpg

The final product, all mounted up and ready to go! The wiring was no trouble since the loom was already in place.

Unfortunately they don't work as yet because i have ordered some led bulbs from hong kong to go in them (having sealed up the cooling vents) , so they're just for sparkle atm

Led bulbs in angel eyes- proper faff to change but worth it - should last 10x longer than the £1 a hit filament bulbs (irritating when theres 20 of them)

Plus i prefer the ice white colour!

Enjoy!

Ok so quick update, tyres are looking a little shot so i'm getting new ones next week, i thought i'd use this opportunity to refurb my alloys too.

I was thinking maybe a kind of graphite/ gunmetal colour? Any other suggestions people?

heres a preview chop:

got any more info on this, something I've thought about doing but wasn't too sure about the best way to go about it.

Are yours FK automotive ones? In which case, you just need some 286 bulbs, readily available for hong kong via ebay in a choice of colours. I got 20 for £15 quid.

The tricky part is the actual changing, you need to take the bumper off and to remove the headlamp units. The bulbs are held in little carriers which go through a small aperture to the angel eye "halo" , 5 bulbs per ring. They're all wired in series so if you pull them all out at once they're like xmas tree lights!

Swap the bulbs, test them before re inserting ( because leds wont work if they're the wrong way round) and then plug them back into their little holes in order.

Its not too bad a job to do and considering mine used to blow the bulbs really quickly i'd say its worth it for the increased durability of the leds.

Much ado about sidelight bulbs!
