I'll let you know yeah! I might have a go at fitting on tuesday, it'll be another bumper off job though! Its just for the dipped beam though

okay mate let me know and are the ones you brought legal? what price you pay pm if you want?

thanks

they're 8000k bulbs, so probably a bit too blue, but since my car doesnt have headlamp washers they're illegal anyway . They were about £30 delivered, there's a link to t'ebay on the previous page ;)

Right i'm the worst person in the world at keeping a secret , so here goes nothing!

24082010001.jpg

Details :

Brembo GT R230 calipers , adapted for mk3 golf, engineered (bodged) onto 6n2 carriers, with standard discs (for now)

I plan to pick up some G60 carriers and hubs to take these to 280mm :D with some nice pads in

I just got tired of little brakes under big wheels!

I actually love the look of your polo. The wheels suit it so well. Not so sure on the random stickers though.

Keep the updates coming :)

haha dude looks mad! need bigger discs though lol..looks just a tad uncool lol

Nice work dude!

I know, i'm already trying to find some G60s, but it desperately needs the rears uprating before then, since when i took it out for a drive it felt like i almost bloody endo'd the thing !

Hang on a second... they were on a mk3 golf... so they should fit straight on a 6n2

Also...

No! :p I just want to go down a different route with my car. As for de wipering, i find it can be rather handy having a rear wiper sometimes ...

Too right man, it's your car, its gotta be what you want. On the wiper side of things, its really not too bad without hte rear whiper. Only very rarely had my windscreen got dirty enough not to be able to see clearly, and seeing as you keep your car pretty clean, I dont see it being a problem. I've only got 1 wiper on my entire car ;)

No I agree with doing your car as you want it! That's exactly what I've done, in my opinion only, the badge doesn't go with the car, and the stickers make it kinds look like a fast and furious wanabee. But yeah its your car, and very nice at that. Where did you get the headlights from? I always find a little criticism every now and then aids improvement, so don't take it personally.

Cheers, max.

Sweet caliper covers Tim! ;)

Car looks good on those wheels, and now that it's sitting abit better! Hope you'll be attending the SCP meet this month!

True that. YOu can't expect to put a car up here and for everyone to like it. Critisism is good. In small doses :p

Ok so today was interesting to say the least...

Driving to work, suddennly the car developed a knock when going around a corner. It was odd, but didnt happen when braking or going straight, just low speed cornering

I was quite worried, but less than a mile from my destination so i carried on.

Then about 1/4 mile later , going straight, knock knock knock knock clunk BANG BANG BANG BANG

Which resulted in this

26082010.jpg

Sheared an m12! I think the wheel vibrated itself loose on the spigot til it was sitting on the bolts, -criticise my workmanship if you will!- but thats the last time i ever buy cheapo spigot rings......

Either way, i now have a reasonably unsafe car and half a bolt stuck in my hub, what to do? I cant get it to a garage til tuesday :( I'll see if i can get my tame mechanic to extract the bolt, if not i reckon its rear disc time.

Where can i buy replacement wheel bolts (soonish, preferably not over the interwebs) ?

.

In the mean time i'll pop the standard polo wheels back on the rear so i dont have to sit my car on the spigot rings

Unfortunately, the 14s won't fit over the *ahem* red things....

Spigot rings aren't load bearing...you seriously think a piece of plastic will stop your wheel from wobbling?

The reason wheel bolts have tapered or radius seats is so that they locate the wheel to the bolt holes accurately, and also stops them coming out. If you overtightened the wheel bolts then they could snap when cornering/stopping.

Take the remaining bolts out, and take the wheel off, should still be a fair bit of bolt sticking out the drum/hub which you should be able to undo with your fingers, or molegrips.

Dunno where to suggest getting wheel bolts from, I'm in desperate need of some at the moment but can't find anywhere that has any local!

  • Author

Aha i thought they were poorly made and meant the wheel wasnt centred.

I always thought the spigot ring was load bearing? Infact I'm almost certain!

But damn, thats not good. Makes you wander when the rest will go

get your wheel bolts from a scrappy, there free then! :-D

As long as you have deep pockets...
