Aha i thought they were poorly made and meant the wheel wasnt centred.

If the wheel wasn't centered, you wouldn't be able to screw the bolts in lol.

True... I took the bolt round to my next door neighbour and he took one look at it and told me it was an overtightening shear - he used to be an engineer for aston martin, now he fixes up DB4s for a living. So now i just have to nurse it round til i can get some new bolts, i'll probably go to VW for convenience

It'll be alright on 3 I suspect, someone at work has had a sheared bolt in their hub for over a year with no problems, they run 3 bolts!

I wouldn't bother going to VW, just go on ebay and get one, next day delivery and all!

Kwl, i'll probably replace all four, theres no way of knowing if the rest are damaged

This morning was payday, so i ordered some new rear tyres due to this

27082010.jpg

The toyos were free with the wheels anyway so i'm not that bothered

Lets just say i'm doing something a little ambitous with these ones.....

I'll book it into Mike Stokes Motorsport next week for the camber to be set up too

YEah, my brother snapped two of his from overtightening. Although it was when he was taking them off, managed to shear two! And that's why I wont let him near my car :p

Oh yeah, since you've been asking for so long, put a thread of my car up. Will post more pics soon (:

whats ".:R" about this:?

Am i missing the 300bhp bay shots?

Details :

Brembo GT R230 calipers , adapted for mk3 golf, engineered (bodged) onto 6n2 carriers, with standard discs (for now)

I plan to pick up some G60 carriers and hubs to take these to 280mm :D with some nice pads in

I just got tired of little brakes under big wheels!

I wish i'd known you coulda done this! I just spent 110 on GTi hubs, calipers and carriers. What are they like? Or are you just gonna replace the whole lot with G60's?

They're covers mate, £6.00 off ebay

My temporary fix has been to fill the back of the headlamp unit with a few silica gel packs, like you get in shoe boxes, it works but you have to change them every now and then

So, after a quick trip to town this morning, my tyres were sorted and the spacers are on!

Its amazing the difference in terms of how it sits in the arch

DSC_9212.jpg

Just gonna give it a wee wash later and then it's going to Mike Stokes Motorsport for 4 wheel tracking and camber etc

Got the camber and geometry set up, heres the before printout

DSC_9214.jpg

Now its all straight and true though! Big improvement, not least cos the front wheels arent trying to hide away in the arch anymore

You like your stickers don't you matey!

Looks good, bar the decels. IMO!

Doesnt look good. Would do it to mine as see if it makes any difference, but its may be gone by next week.

Does it handle better now? Mine has a bit of camber on the fronts, and seems to handle so well!

Coming along nicely mate, wheels look realy nice.

Yeah, i was surprised at the difference the setting up made, the also tensioned the strut brace properly so that helped, i cant believe i put up with how it was before. Plus at least the tyres will wear properly now! Cant believe i put up with how it felt before
