Fitted my HIDs today, Finally!

Took a quick cheeky pic whilst waiting for gord to arrive at the lockup

ok probably going to get attacked for this but here it goes...

i feel it needs coilovers because it doesnt look low enough imo.

not a massive fan of the wheels but they look better now theres a bit of spacing and a slightly smaller tyre.

maybe some OEM fogs to tidy the front end up? oh and maybe some OEM switches to replace the james bond ones?

seats aren't really my cup of tea but f**k it. who cares what i think. its your car and if your enjoying it thats all that matters

I do appreciate your opinion, and i have a huge amount of respect for you as a tuner since i've seen what you can do to one of these!

However, i like how this car's suspension is set up, and it is more for handling than looks, and i've spent alot on getting this one to corner like it does. Everything from the tyre sizes (staggered) to the strut brace was a calculated decision, not just for the sake of "down and out" as seems to be the trend.

I've always had a thing for white wheels, i like the lairyness :p

OEM fogs is something i'd like to do, but expensive by the time i've bought them and the switchgear, we're talking £60+ for good parts, and i'm happy with my cobbled together ones since they cos me about £12 to do

As for the seats, meh they're just a bit of fun really

That's the best response I Could have asked for. And for that I can see exactly why you've done what you've done. So respect coming your way bro!Lol I just thought some constructive criticism is never a bad thing. That's what for me building cars is all about. taking the good with the bad.

As for my old car, I look back on it and think my god what did I do to a perfectly good polo!lol don't get me wrong I enjoyed it but if I had a second chance it would be completely different!

Anyway rant over. Keep the updates coming dude and keep enjoying it. That's what counts

I alwyas got told to go lower too, but my car handles so perfectly with only a 40mm drop, didnt want to touch it incase it got worse.

As it stands now, the only surfaces I can get any tyres squeel from fast cornering is concrete and smooth tarmac. Gonna miss it when I sell it.

Exactly, i think i've thrown enough cash at this one's suspension set up for now, plus properly matched dampers & springs will whoop a cheap set of coilies any day of the week in the twists!

I love going on polished concrete in the new tescos near my old man's house! Makes it sound like i'm driving a D1 car :p

I don't like the random stickers, it's not slow & laborious not fast & the furious.

I do think it rides way too high, fair play you've gone for handling etc but it's only a 1L, low & slow FTW.

I don't like the Porsche centercaps, they're not Porsche wheels and in now way related to Porsche, they're not even 5 stud...

Porsche fit OZ Wheels as optional extras on some of their cars

"Slow and Laborious" thats quality, might have to turn that into a sticker..... :p

Its getting a new engine once i've settled my student finance so it wont be like this forever!

The buckets i bought second hand and i believe they're corbeau copies, not 100% on that though, i've seen a few other polos with them in.

The HIDs are a massive improvement, so much better to see by and such a nice shade of ice blue!

What calculated decisions did you make on the handling front Tim? Why did you only lower it 40mm?

Wanted a wider rear track to improve turn in, so worked out the widest tyres /spacer combo i could get away with! Plus i still want to be able to load it up with stuff/people should i so desire

And , in spite of all this "scene pressure" i still haven't gone and bought coilies since at the end of the day i'm perfectly happy with the ride i have atm! And hence why i have chosen to spend my money on wider low-pros not silly little stretched tyres!

Good good. I have to admit, things have got a lot better on this car since the first time I saw it.

Yeah i took it to mike stokes and asked for exactly that! They talked me through all the different settings recommended for FWD cars.

I like my strut brace, cos its shiney Its pretty tense, again the guys at mike stokes re-tensioned it when they were doing my geometry , although its admittedly not the biggest brace out there.

Its just a Polo mate! Chill out on saying you've done it for performance etc...
