Tucked away whilst i'm at uni

So no updates for a while!

Looks rather sad covered up like that.

Loving kingsley's ride. Those wheels give it a really old skool look.

What are the high/lows all about? Does it replace a standard high/low bulb or are there two seperate ones? If the latter, where'd he get em from?

Rather want some for my car :D

How easy was it to fit?

Quick run through please ;)

Thanks.

Pete.

Needs to go lower mate ;) lol!

Two separate HID kits for the high and low beam ;)

A bit of a pain, but the kits are really simple. Remove the standard bulb and plug the +/- spades into the old bulb (female) plug. Then, drill through the back of the cover to pass through the grommet and the leads to the ballast. Seal the grommet then attach the ballast . Close up the headlamp unit and test it before refitting. Repeat for multiple beams

The kits are available from ebay from as little as £30

What bulbs did you get then? Looks pretty damn nice. I was going to get some nice 100 xenons for my main beams but this would look better.

For the FK angel eyes you put H7s in both beams, so just a H7 HID kit would do it.

I'm running 5000k 100w halogen bulbs in my main beam atm, and they're really good actually as a cheap alternative, but they're also illegal!

Yeah the illegality isnt an issue, worst comes to worst, I'll be told to change the bulbs. Worth being able to see, especially on thr roads around here.

They illegal just because of the brightness?

Yeah the limit is 55w

Major update!

A new engine is winging its way to me as we speak, but its not 100% certain yet whether it'll be going in soon. All i can reveal is that its coming from Mahle Powertrain (the artist formerly known as cosworth) and i'm gonna be whacking it on the uni dynos for a full rebuild + map, aiming to do the transplant after christmas :ninja:

That is all

Spill, how much did you splash on the GTI engine? ;)

Ahaha barking up the wrong tree there mate! Plans have changed :ninja: And i'm getting this one for next to nothing but it needs an exhaust manifold, ECU and loom, plus 'box. And probably many more things which i darent think about, but i have the use of the motorsport dept testing labs once it arrives :D

Well its gotta be a 16v ;)

I almost went down the route of an engine swap on my 6n2, then found my new car at a great price.

You do realise how much work is involved in fitting a 20vt? Bit ambitious for a uni project!

Not yet, the engine wont be going in til after christmas at the earliest, but the brakes are my priority, after the MOT at the end of this month. I got outbid on a set of g60s the other day by a few pennies by some bidsniping w4nk3r :(

I'll do a gti rear beam conversion too
