Did you look through the refurb process? If I did it again i'd probably choose a slightly lighter colour.

Yeah i know kinglsey quite well, I got my buckets and suspension from him! He's always trying to sell me stuff :p

Yeah its quite depressing that an hour of my labour translates only into a sticker and a little green title under my avatar  Have you got a thread up about your car mate?

Do you know what after looking at other 6N2's in the same colour i have decided that i prefer the bump strips in black.

That is all! :-D

Cars lookin good matey!

Cheers mate, i reckon the strips + the wheels contrast nicey against the paint :D

I did put it up somewhere. I've lost it since :crybaby: I might put a new thread up. I'm really just waiting for money to put into mine again, once I've got my insurance sorted wheels and other mods are on the way. That's the plan anyway. This thread has inspired me to start on mine again!

Right so today was a day of much fiddling with wires ! I rewired the fogs to put them on their own loom and put them on a toggle switch on the dash, making them a little fuse and everything! I'm well chuffed with it , its the first major electronics job on the car i've done for myself. Also, i put in some mini LED accent lights for extra sparkle !

Anyway, enough prattling on, heres the pics:

Night time pic of the illuminations:

They're not actually half bad for low draw LEDs, better light output than i was expecting, and a nice colour. These were only 9 SMLEDs per bulb though, i might swap them for some 96 LED jobbies :ninja:

Sorry for shite quality phone pic

Micro update: I bought a new , smaller front number plate -15"x4.4"- yesterday, hopefully should arrive tomorrow! I plan to have the bumper off next monday, to replace dead sidelight bulbs, pop a plug in the foglight loom, fit my 100w main beam bulbs and maybe to fit the plate if the fixing kit supplied isnt appropriate.

I'm getting some new wheels on monday, all I'm saying for now is they're 7x16 and in need of a refurb, so i'll put pics up once i've got em! I'm in no hurry to get them on , i want to do a properly good refurb on them like last time- and that took about 3 days!

I was wondering, will i need a bit of stretch to help fit them in? I've found some 165/40/16s at a good price.

EDIT- Forgot to say that they're ET42

So the new plate just arrived!

DSC_8530.jpg

Its significantly smaller than the regular one, about 2 letters worth

DSC_8531.jpg

I'm dead happy with it, except for the fact that the manufacturer missed a capital S in the slogan, but i'll live with it

I like that small plate. Might get one myself, dunno how long it would be before I got stopped because of it though.

Glad you can live with that 's', that would annoy the hell out of me!

Haha well we'll see how long it takes for my latent OCD to break out

So i ran out of things to do this afternoon and set about fitting my number plate:

Momentarily sans plate

18062010001.jpg

18062010003.jpg

I actually really like it without a front plate, but the law's the law :tear:

I trialled a couple of different fitments, but i didnt really like them

18062010004.jpg

18062010002.jpg

So i plumped for my usual:

18062010005.jpg

Here's a quick one of the old plate and the new one side by side to give a better indication of dimensions

18062010.jpg

It's only just illegal, if i had a 6 letter registration it'd be fine, the font is less than 5mm short of the required minimum, you'd need a tape measure to tell!

All 4 are kerbed, one in the middle, but I reckon i can refurb them! I have the time now i've finished college. Plus they were a bargain.

Test fit! :D Don't laugh at my shite rear drums, they'll be getting hammerited soon!

DSC_0283.jpg

I was going to put one on the front too, but i was overcome by a bout of CBA-itis so I resorted to this:

Ah, laziness, the true mother of all invention

Let me know what y'all think!

I can has alloys?

I did a little fiddling today, replacing broken bulbs in angel eyes

21062010001.jpg

Then hammerited the rear drums

22062010.jpg

Got rake?

22062010001.jpg

All tucked away under the alloys, a massive improvement!

22062010004.jpg

Any comments?

All loaded up for the voyage home, with a bootfull of booze :D

23062010001.jpg

Heavy loads= False Lows!

23062010.jpg

Anyway when I woke up this morning i was greeted by a pleasant surprise

24062010.jpg

My stepdad's golf was being serviced, so he got the polo as a courtesy car

It made me realise that this new polo is aesthetically closer to a 6n2 than anything else in comparison

24062010003.jpg

24062010002.jpg

Anyway i'll have a proper poke around it later, it does make me really want one now! :ninja:

I really wish i had a spare clubpolo sticker so i could tag it! Maybe i'll leave a yearbook in the glove box.....

I do like the new polos, but that looks absolutely massive compared to yours!

going to look mega sharp on the new wheels! :-)

Yeah i can't wait to get them all sorted, i'm going to town to get all the paint, primer and nitromoors tomorrow! :D I'm gonna go for BMW Titanium silver , cos it has a similar flake to the sparkling graphite i did my current wheels with.

Plus its payday, so i'll be ordering the new tyres to go on too :) Might just go for some cheaper falkens for the fronts rather than buying Proxes to match the rears , save myself some £40 . Damn expensive low profile tyres! Spending 25 hours of my labour on some rubber hoops :( Minimum wage FTMFL
