Cheeky little handbrak

Featured Replies

Alright guys...

I'm after a cheeky handbrake for my motor.

I've got a 6n and was wandering whether a 6n2 one or later models fit perfectly? Also with the handbrake, the gaitor. I'm fed up of my big plastic standard one. Haha. Got a mk6 gear knob and other things from newer polo's so this is the finishing touch.

Thanks, tom.

Hahahahahaha. I bloody love you fellow polo guys!! :).

I'm gagging to know what handbrake and gaitors people have in their 6n!! :).

Standard :-( maybe get it trimmed in grey suede to match my gear gaitor 8-) But on the subject of your quest foroem bits, you can fit a 9n armrest around your handbrake...

An arm rest?? Really?? Show me? I like the sound of this Superbad idea!! :). Talk to me...costs, any modding?

I may have lied about the oem bit - just looked on the bay and I can only see aftermarket kits but still they can be made to fit, and they look pretty smart and oem like. Someone did it on here or another forum, I beleive the only modding was screwing the armrest to the floor/raised centre floor bit.

I have a bright red Mk3 golf colour concept sexy number in mine, nice and chunky. Leather was made to fit the hand :)

There's a thread in FAQ if I remember right, details fitting other vag handbrakes. Certainly a nice simple touch and easy to obtain in a scrappy.

Edit. Had a look in FAQ and I was wrong, it's not there. Might be in the "cheap mods" thread, I'm sure a search would find it.

Edited by Andy!

Damn, wrong forum completely! It's on uk polos in Performance and technical-diy guides.

Ooooohhh...look at mr. Polo96cl with his sexy little number!! :). What a bloke. How was it to fit? Did you know you can get an armrest?? Well...apparantly you can. I'm intrigued. ;). Haha.

By the way...does anyone know what the blastic strip that goes outside the car, above the front window to block the sun?? I like those. Bit of a saucy euro mod. Lol.

you can fit a 6n2/lupo handbrake but the gaitor sits too high/forward so you would need to mod the surround :) can also fit a 9n2 polo one but again the same problem arises ;) the 9n2 looks cool though! cheap from the scrappies so always worth a try :D

the only like for like one is from an ibiza or mk3 golf :) these (fi you get the right ones) can be leather and if taken form a color concept a cool color too :D only problme is the shape is the same....

Here he is...koosh you legend!!

I'm thinking suede material cover, in black, to go over the gaitor and then a new gear stick. Either lupo or latter polo models. Koosh...will you be getting any in stock? Any price guides? Lol.

There is a slight difference between the Golf and Polo handbrakes, the Golf one is thicker and chunkier, you can also tell this because the button is larger (ooo err!). It is possible to fit the following: Polo Mk5+9N+Lupo, Mk3 Golf (GTi, Colour Concept and VR6/highline) and some of the subsideries such as the Ibiza. Or you could, like you say, retrim the current one.

Guide how to fit (applies to most of the handbrakes). Check out the bad boy here, freshly creamed.

well you will be getting a new gear knob soon ;) i sent yours out the other day so it should be with you soon :)

gear gaitors and handbrake gaitors you can pick up on ebay for very little :) there are loads of leather ones and i think maybe even suede :) if your just going for a handbrake cover then stick with the 6n handbrake and just get a custom fit cover :)

not sure if i will be getting any of the handbrakes mentioned as they are quite hard to come by :)

There are a variety of different "knobs" you can fit too, such as Polo Mk5 GTi (in mine wooop), Polo Mk5/Lupo/Mk4 Golf. Seat Ibiza and Leon I think too.

Alternatively, buy a leather look handbrake cover and scrub till its suade hehe

Okokok...so, guys, would it be possible to put suede material over the standard 6n gaitor and then put a new handbrake straight on from a newer polo or lupo?

  • Author

Shit, my bad. I meant to write hanbrake, not gear knob. Got yours the next day. Love it. Looks mint!! :). Lol.

Your best bet would be to take you 6n2 knob, then get an aftermarket gaitor to fit to it. I wouldn't bother trying to stick it on top. Regarding your handbrake, if you want to put one from a newer polo or a lupo you will need to modify your center console section to accomodation the shorter handbrake gaitor :)

Hope that helps

Mental...got it sorted!! :). Coilovers first though. Woohoo. Haha.

Off topic but can anyone vouch for chrome, inside, door handles? I recogn they will go with my ats cups, chrome rear badge, 9n gear knob etc. :).

right you nutters...continuing from the other day..i came up with a plan. it involves this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-POLO-MK4-MK3-LEAT...=item35a3e7a01d

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

pop that in your url bar and have a butchers.

What i want to know is, do you recogn it goes over the plastic on the standard 6n handbrake or you take the plastic off and slide that juicy leather beast on?? :).

I'm going for a purple suede floor cover bit that surrounds the handbrake itself. oooooooh...now that my friends, is a bit bloody cheeky to say the least.

euro 6n's ftw!!

Looks like that sexy badboy slides over the sheath of plastic, otherwise it wouldn't be stiff enough to hold up. Real leather eh, sounds like a good swap.

Purple suade eh, like a pimps handbag straight outta holland. Euro style.

aaaaaaahahahahaha yes polo96cl...you know your shit!! :) wel its going to be either purle or black suede. I'm undecided at the minute. finally my interior is shaping up nicely. cordob half leathers soon to be next. all exterior done apart from coilovers and arches rolled, which is being done in 7 days tomorrow!!!! C'MON!! will get some pics up when there on. lol
