I have a 2001 1.0l polo, i have a air filter that i bought, but i am not sure if it fits my car, as i have just seen some panel filter for the same year as my car.

Can anyone tell me if the air filter i bought will fit, any pics of 1.0l polos that have been done with a air filter would be great.

You're going to have to give us some more information. Is it a replacement service air filter you've bought or an uprated aftermarket one (like a cone fillter, etc)?

It is a universal performance air filter, it is a cone one.

It says it fits all standard 76mm pipes, but i am not sur if i have bought the wrong type of filter for my car.

Can i fit a performnce air filter to my 2001 polo, if so how do i do it. picks or some advice would be great. what else would i need other than the air filter.

I used a pipercross cone, attatching it straight where the old inlet pipe was- it will just about fit! I would advise buying a cotton one instead though as they tend to be a little more durable.

Use a large diameter section of silicon pipe (maybe 2 or 3" long). Attatch this to the inlet and then jam the cone over the other end. you may need to use a jubilee clip to hold it on

You will need to take the manifold apart (engine cover) - take out the standard filters, CUT OUT the elements (cotton bit) but keep the rubber rim intact. This needs to go back in because it forms a seal with the manifold.

Did you do anything with the cold air feed. where abouts are the standard filters and elemens mate.

Does it make alot of differance to the performance, is it louder then the stock one.

I'm looking to remove the engine cover and build a new inlet manifold with a ram air system, hopefully next month

Its not nitrous oxide, i was running nitromethane fuel additives but it made fuelling very expensive and i couldnt afford to keep it up- so alas no more!

did you use a reducer to make it fit, or did it fit striaght on and then you pu the jubilee on.

the silicon pipe i used acts as a reducer, it was an offcut that just happened to fit.

If i were to do it properly i'd use a reducer

putting a filter on a 1.0

ino its a GTi - but its a better set up.

To be honest, i would just replace the panel filter with a uprated one. KnN one or something. Cone filter on that isnt going to do very much at all to a 1.0.
