I paid less than that for a running little bit smashed GTI, this isn't a criticism, but you should assess this and repair it if you're capable or take a hit.

if you want to fund the repair of it then lets go for it, but if you not interested in buyin then you no longer need to really post here.

I'm trying to be helpfull, I was interested, but I found one cheaper.

I'm suggesting you either take the hit and learn from it or find a way to get another engine and chuck it in, if you're lucky all you'll need is a head and if you use some sense you'll look about here for someone who's just used the bottom end from their engine they have and if you ask nicely may actually sell you it.
