rite got myself some borbet t's that are currently bein refurb'd. In the stage of gettin some coilovers and gettin them on (is there a guide to fitting these to a 6n2 on here?). Wonder what the best tyre choice is and if I'm going to need the arches rolled and pulled because i gotta feeling theyll be sticking out a long way?

Depends on the offset, i would wait until you get them back and trial fit them

you dont need no arch work with an 8j also long as you put a tyre under 195/45 on, looks great too

coilovers are soo easy to fit jack car up onto axle stand only do front or back at one time. put a jack under the brake or hub not the wishbone to support it undo the bolts attached to the strut on the bottom,

let the hub assembaly down slighty with the jack but or you can let it hang. the bottom of the strut should be free then in your engine bay or in the boot you will find a coupe of bolts to undo take the spring and strut out once the top bolts are free.

keep all of the rubbers you take off and put them back onto you new coilover in same order that they came off. you may need to undo the bolt on the top of the spring cant remember if you do be careful the spring is compressed, put the new one back in and push it up into the body of the car just finger tight the top bolts up to hold it in

then wiggle to bottom bolts in and tighten them push the coilover up with the jack to make sure it is in the right place do all the bolts up well tight. done takes no longer than 2 hours if you do it with a mate you can get some camber on the front wheels if you wiggle the brake and hub assembally about abit with the bottom bolt loose. it quite hard to get both sides exsact the first time by eye, then go get the tracking done

Not necessarily true, depends on drop and offset.

Ts come in et15 and et20

both are safe bets when you run 195/45

a roll & pull wouldnt go a miss though

also depends on how police are around your area. i ran 14x8 et15 borbet Ts, got pulled cos they poked a little & my car was impounded there & then :/ min reason though was cos i had LOADS of scrubbing going on. with a roll & pull that would have never happened...

& anyway, after getting my arches done last year in september, its made me realize, along with wheels & drop, arch work is one of the most important & best things to do at the beginning

my mates got borbets Ts 14x8 et15 195/45 and there fine, nothing major at all. on my old polo i ran 15x8 et20 schmidt modern lines with 195/45. yes they will rub when you go over bumps but what do you expect when you put wide wheels. making a car look good means some things have to suffer
