Looking at getting some Teardops for my new Breadvan... Currently have 185/60's which are Golf size and will amost deinitely rub on my car.

Any cheap reccomendations for tyres? I'm not after super akinny and low profile such as 155/55's but something fairly decent and on the cheap.

What would 165/60/14's be like?

165/60/14's is what my heck rocks.

fits with standard arches down 40 mm but only if you spend a afternoon centering the rear axle or you get skiffs on the tyre as its about 1- 1.5 mm from the lip when your finished.

I'm about to run 165/60 14 too was gonna fold the lip a bit or something!

165/60s went straight on my breadie without needing to centre the axle. i'd try the wheels 1st before messing with the axle

as g40 john says try the wheels on first depends on a number of items:

what ride height your car sits at, if its not lowered just chuck them on. is its lowered it might hit at speed hiting a bump.

what tyres your running as some are more "baloony" on the side walls than others despite being the same size.

how vw fitted it in the first place, since they are spannish it might have been near siesta time so they didnt try to hard.

to centre the axle you just loosen the 6 bolts that screw into the body then move it the direction you want then tighten it back up, the brackets that bolt to the body have slightly slotted holes to allow it to move about a bit

i bought a set of teardrops for my bready, rubbed them down filled them, painted them and they wont go, the rears catch on the spring cup as iv lowered it 60mm rear with ta teknics, they will go with bigger spacers but then my arch is in the way, is yours lowerd?

mines down 40mm all round are teardrops ET38 like most other 14x6 wheels as if they arnt that could be the problem?i know ET33 can rub on the strut towers if your down low.

I'm running 14x5.5 et38 now down 60/50 on 165/60 14s with standard arches and its close to the arch but i cant imagine half an inch (quarter either side) will make much difference with the same tyre size!

Seems like thats the best size to go for mate
