hey

well basiclly i brought a jvc headunit second hand, all works fine but no wires with it, my standard 6n2 plugs straight on no problem but i dont know where to wire the remote wire to everything else is wired up fine I'm just stuck on this 1 wire?? can anybody help please, i can put a pic up of the wires from the cars standard wiring if need be??

The remote wire on the back of the head should be deep blue. If it's part of the ISO plug you could cut it and extend it to wherever you have your amp.

another option if your headunit doesnt have a remote, is to wire the remote from the amp to the cigarette lighter then put a switch in series to turn the amp on and off.

couldnt he take it from ignition live to a switch to amp??

I'm trying to do this for a friend in his polo. Thought i could just copy mine but that would be to easy... then i thought if it was just a signal wire you could take it from on of the other speakers but then you would only get left or right side music coming from the sub if it was a stereo track?...

cigarette lighter stays on but with a switch in series you can control when the amp is powered. This is how I've had it for a while anyways. Ideally you want a power source that is live only when the headunit is on but i found it easier to use the cigarette lighter and then mnount a switch that fits perfectly into the cigarette lighter hole.

How about wiring it onto the stereo power cable from behine the fusebox???

ok thanks all for replies ill have a look at what can be done :)

to get the remote amp turn on connected get the power part of the iso plug and connect it to the 2nd cable(if it has one if not then you need to fit the cable into that hole) in the top row of the plug at the end without the clip

this is the antenna out power supply which can be used from the stereo to turn the amp on

I've not had problems sorting the remote out, but if you're gonna use the antenna out then make sure there's a constant voltage 'on'. My remote has gone on the back of the head unit and I have used a power source from the back of the climate control. My air is always circulating so it's always on when the ignition is on.

why would you want a constant supply on

the whole point of the antenna out is it only gives a 12 volt supply when the stereo is turned on

okay so i got 2 options...

i can wire the remote wire upto a switch which i wired up to the cig lighter? so when switch is on the 12v to the amp is running, but once the engine/ignition is off theres 0v?

or

wire the power wire to the wire next to it and then connected to the point the power wire was originally at?

or

wiring it onto the stereo power cable from behine the fusebox??

Sorry, that's what I meant.........power supply for when the head unit is on. It's just that some voltage supplies gives a fluctuating supply.

the voltage should remain the same

but sometimes the antenna output cannot supply enough current to keep the amp turned on

pretty much all h/u's only give a 2mA output which is generally fine

just connect it to the loom in the h/u
