alright so i got given a 250w amp from a friend and my brother gave me his old sub which was working before removing it from his car

so i wired it all up in my car

but the sub is not kicking anything out

when i touch the wires to the sub there is like a little kick or like a noise from the sub for like a second then goes

anybody know what I've done wrong/what this could be?

its like it aint been wired right, have you tried the fuses?

also when it hapended to me the amp was knackered so maybe try someones elses amp with the sub or both

Could be the fuses, or the ground or the sub has blown

Is there power? Light on the amp? Check fuses, check the earth. If there is power, check the settings, ie the crossover settings, mono/stereo etc.......as the amp may have been used previously to drive stereo speakers. If they're fine and you have power, then I would borrow a sub and try a working sub. Then move onto borrowing a working amp to test your wiring.

yes i have a power light, but then i have a power light when i dont even have a fuse in so :S proper confused i also have power when i dont have the power lead on the battery :S also confuse me

did you buy the wiring kit new or just take it out your bro's car

when mine was fooked it was the remote wire

do i need a fuse in the wire cummin from the battery and the amp

as now i only have one in amp and not the wire

will this affect anything?

It's a shit sub if it still has a power light on with no fuse!

My bet is, remote wire..

An inline fuse between the battery and the sub just prevents damage to the sub.

I'm going to have a guess then that even when i dont have power from the battery and i have my remote wire in it still has power that its a totally shit amp

i just tryed a fuse in both the wire from the batter and the amp and it went straight into protect mode so I'm going to have a guess its fucked

is it a two channel amp? if yes why not try the other channel ?

my mate struggled, like the amp lit up red for power, but only green when it was going to actually work.

it was the earth.

Make sure your remotes working and connected right place.

Have a GOOD earth

Power doesnt need to be fused but will protect it if needs be.

You got rca cable connected to head unit?

Bridge the sub so you get best output from amp

blue wire from back of head unit (never usually attached to anything)

you can like get a short bit of wire and bridge the remote and live on the amp i think, or somethin like that, but obv the purpose of it is to turn amp off when stereo isnt on to avoid killin batt.
