Right, I've tried google and got no good results really, except some general advice of how to sleep in a car.

So first Question, can you sleep in a car in Holland, or are you breaking the law?

If yes,

Can you sleep in awhile when you have been drinking?

Clearly without the keys in the ignition and sitting in the driver's seat.

I dident know it was ilegal to sleep in your car in this contry , Imo even if it was the Dutch won't waste their time with it they are alot more chillied Over there .

you carnt sleep in your car in england if youve been drinking you can if your sober.

As for holland id imagine its the same.

Chilled perhaps, but not lawless! The dutch police quite like to enforce their laws!

Yeh that's what I thought. Lol dident mean they are lawless just that they are a bit more leanant and understanding.

i think you can as long as you dont have the keys in the car, ie swap them with someone else whos sleeping in their car. If you have the keys and your drunk and your in your car you can get done. potential to drink drive or something...

Yea, drunk and in control of a cehicle. so the obv solutionis to lock them under the bonnet or something.

To be honest if a copper in the UK tried telling me off for sleeping in my car I'd point them in the direction of a certain youtube video.

My mates slept in their car drunk the other week, a copper breatherlised them in the morning to make sure they were ok to drive home, apparently they were proper canny, they even asked if they had a good night and when they agreed they asked why they had no lasses in the back with them and then said fairenough, masterbation is just as good

But what they did was park next to each other and give each other the keys for their cars. So i cannot see what would be wrong with putting the keys in the glovebox.

And thanks Buster, i'd rather know from someone in the know, since rather than just guessing.

Pretty sure I remember my mate telling me him and a mate got done for just that in Amsterdam.

take glovebox lock key offf of keyring (diffent to ignition key )

lock the remaining keys in the glovebox then hide the 1 remaining key under backseats lock doors and fall asleep in PASSANGER SEAT what you think ?

Well, my mate would most likely be drinking too, but, I don't plan on sleeping in the seats at all, if i can make some measurements tomorrow

Sleep in the boot. Not comfortable but plenty dark and they won't see you.

open the door, put your keys in and then lock the door, sleep underneath the car, phone the aa or someone to get your keys out in the morning

My dad is trying to scare me off from going to holland in the car now, since apparently it is full of maniac drivers.

And an old fella i work with was saying when he used to there many years ago people just cut you up and and attempt to push you from behind, and he drove a coach.

But I'm not letting them stop me.

@ Goose- I would try and get a cheap hotel if possibly, but i'm trying to keep costs down as much a physically possible.

don't know about amsterdam itself, but driving in holland is totally fine mate! drove out there last year in my 6N.. was amazing!

the roads are so much nicer than in the UK, once you get over the driving on the wrong side (takes like 2 mins). i can't imagine people dicking about much as the popo seemed to be prettty strict on the roads
