For people who complain and say that supermarket fuel isnt the same quality as BP or shell, It is the same product i have been working in a fuel depo and the tesco wagons are filling up off the same pump as the BP wagons. So it is cheaper and the same quality as supermarket fuel knowing this you will save loads a year :) rant over Joe

Not quite as simple as that though, do you know what additives have been put into the fuel once it is on Tescos forecourt?

And is it really cheaper?

In my experiance up here I've always seen supermarkets fuel at 1p per litre more than the likes of Shell or BP.

And there is just something nice about filling up at Shell, the pumps seem faster, nicer environment to be in and also the peace of mind that you are getting a quality product.

Is the fuel is the same which you state.

Still have to take in different factors, Tesco Clubcard, or Shell card

I'm gunna guess that since hes saying tesco, its going to be the 99 octane petrol, in which case, theres a high chance its the same fuel as any more or less adatives would change the octane rating

You don't have to queue to get round the car park with mumsies in their stupid 4x4s at Shell either :)

My local Shell garage is consistently cheaper than anywhere else. Even more so than other Shell garages in my area. So I just go there regardless

i get 37.1 mpg from my petrol saab 2.3t

never had a problem with it

always (well mainly always) use tesco fuel

and with my clubcard i get 1p back on every £1 i put in (2p when its double points)

and if i spend £50 in store, which i do twice a month i get 5p off per litre which suits me fine as i fill the car up twice a month.

so every month i buy 68litres twice = 136litres

with a pump price of £1.10 and my 5p off per litre I'm down to £1.05 per litre (total saving of £6.80) cost of £142.80

on £142.80 i get 1 point back on each pound so pretty much every litre = £1.42

saving of £6.80 + what ill get back on points £1.42 = £8.22 a month.

so all in all i end up paying 6p less per litre than is on the sticker.

if i went to BP instead of tesco id pay 6p more per litre maybe, and i wouldnt be able to save 6p too.

monthly cost using BP = £157.76

monthly cost using tesco = £141.38

cost difference = £16.38

yearly cost saving using tesco to BP = £196.56

so unless its something that you need to make sure 100% you know whats going in it just use tesco and save some £

Used to have a 250 Superdream myself. Loved that bike. I'd guess the extra octanicity to what it was set up on means the fuel ignites a bit faster so it's like having your ignition advanced a bit more than would be ideal.

Possibly the additives are already in the tanker and they fill the remainder with fuel, hence mixing the lot? I'm not too knowledgable about this sort of thing though.

I can get pussy from my local shell garage. But thats not why i go there - its always cheapest and i need to use high octane (high compression),its closer than my nearest supermarket,and I'm confident its as good as any other.

I've boycotted BP for many years,as always being the dearest they effectively push/hold all prices up.

Indeed. Best fuel i've ever used was Texaco fuel down in South Devon. returned me a healthy 40+ MPG in my GT.

when my cars back on the road this week i wont care where i get fuel or how much it costs tbh

spent two weeks on buses and trains,in the mix with common people,the filth :-)

would rather fill up the car on caviar and oysters rather than sit on bus with the chavs smoking their bud and talking bullshit...
