Great bargain :)

tbh, I actually liked it better with the smooth boot etc but each to their own.

Now get those wheels fitted ;)

i'll have them if you want, i'll nail them to my bedroom wall

seriously though it set it apart from all the other polo's with those standard black plastic bumpers, and i'm sure earlier in your build thread you said you liked that green g40 with CC bumpers and smoothed boot and another that was silver...................correct me if i'm wrong though

Also a bit earlier:

nice one man! that means alot coming from a guy with a car like yours!

so, i ain't got any proper photos cuz i wanna do it right, but i do have these progress ones.

So the first night we started doing it, it was like 9pm...got all the left hand side stripped down, but threaded the nut on the trackrod end, so we postponed until the morning, and got hammered instead. (note new discs and pads)

DSC_0126-1.jpg

Got up with headaches and set off looking for a trackrod end, or a nut we could steal....2 hours later, after getting the wrong thread twice, we got a free nut off a blinding bloke in tunstall...

DSC_0132-1.jpg

started on the other side, which proved even more diffacult. The other ball jointed just poped off, this one was having non of it...2 big lads and a jack bar, eventually sorted the stubborn thing out. Again, the nut wouldn't come off the track rod end, so we drove round various scrappys before alex brought me one from mcguinesses, boshed it all together, eventually. The right hand side took 6 hours. Litterally everything was seized, and we didn't have an airgun that worked properly. My wiper also broke, so i'm currently sporting one right hand wiper ahah

DSC_0140.jpg

Smashed the back in no problem, took like 15 minutes a side, think i might of left the shocks too low tho as its settled with a quarter inch of reverse rake :(

yes, the subway ring touches the floor.

Went to work after, and pulled the exhaust apart, fixed it, but it's still awkward to get over bumps now.

DSC_0136-1.jpg

Can't thank Alex, Brad, Dave and Fento enough for all the help with it, and robbo for helping us clean up after ahah

how come you didnt bolt your tow strapppp into the original tow eye?? it lifts it up and fills the hole better :)

  • Author

i wanted to be able to use it properly if i needed to

isnt that what the tow strap is for :p

When are they wheels coming out to play??

  • Author

i mean the tow strap, it's bolted through the bumper iron...it works better this way. And i don't know, i can't afford tyres, i don't even think they'll go under my arches anymore. might even sell up

shiit, i think i met you in avr? i was taking the brakes off your mates old golf, happy to see you sorted that arseing track rod out anyway

that exhaust clamp, if it's still giving you bother catching on things, just rotate it 90 degrees? not sure if there's room to do it on yours though.

looking forward to seeing this upswept exhaust, good stuff! :]

ahaha no way, we did meet man, i was well stressed at the time! ended up raping a bready at mcguinesses instead, going to avr again on monday. did you get what you needed? yeah, i put the new thing on upside down, but now the centre box is vibrating on the car, it's so annoying...gonna sort it tomorrow or cut it off and put some pipe in there insted.
