well anyway, i've had a right day. MOT day. Last night i went the offie to get some beers, pulled up outside and the handbrake cable snapped. Up early today to go GSF and get 2 track rod ends, and a handbrake cable. When i come to put them on, i couldn't be arsed to mod the cable so it was long enough to use with my backplate spacers, so i took them off...nipped to a little bolt shop in castle and got 8 m10 bolts.

Checked all round, did all my bulbs etc but didn't have time to change to trackrod end..anyway off i went to MOT. Got there straight away, problem...drove onto the brake rollers, and layed sump straight away, the tester was just laughing, turns out he has a low daily beetle! bonus. Failed the emissions test, got 9.102% when the limit is 3500, so he tinkered with a screw on the throttle body (not the idle control) and one on the AFM, and it was running better than ever, and got just over 1% which was more than ideal.

Sent it up in the air, and the fuel filter fully shit itself, everywhere. So i had to that, anyway i PASSED! which is good... but i had a list of stuff to do on advisories...

- n/s/f track rod end ball joint has slight play

- o/s/f strut has slight movement at the upper attachment

- rear seats missing (lol)

- slight play in main rack joint

- all brake pipes greased

- car is very low (lol)

can't believe i got an advisory on lowwwwwz, when it's actually quite high compared to most people i know. Anyway, Replaced the trackrod end, after alot of swearing, heat and massive spanners, tightened the strut top and steering rack joint, and deicided to replace the rear flexi hoses and brake lines for good measure. Did a bit of a pikey bodge on the old fuel filter, as it was fully fucked and stuck in the mounting, so i drilled the fuck out of it, then ran an 8mm pipe as a bypass with a mini inline filter there for the time being until i can get it up in the air to fix properly.

Pretty happy, should be all good. Drove back to derby and she didn't miss a beat.

spacers are forsale, only done 1.5k miles. 20 quid plus postage pm me.

anyway, after it passed, i thought...fuck it, they're black.

cheers mate, next year...another refirb i think! silver dish and nice coloured centres. Black, and textured black looked better in my head than it did in reality.

i didn't have/won't have time to make new brake lines and mod the handbrake cable, so i'm getting rid. Might opt for hub centric spacers instead, but with the splits on, it doesn't sit too badly, handles alot nicer...and i've got my full interior back in.
