You shouldve got a warning letter first or a visit from a council official. Did you even get any paperwork to say why it was taken?

Just amazes me that they made no attempt to speak to you first but then again, councils often bend rules to suit their own needs. I should know

Seems a bit dodgy that they took it because of that, but legally it shouldn't have been parked on the road without insurance anyway.

Also, a private road isn't a private road for the purposes of the road traffic act, apparently - if there is direct access onto the main byway at either end then the RTA still applies.

Surely they should give you warning.

Asking you to like out it back on wheels or move it off the road?

If some people where putting my car onto a truck id have stood in front of it whilst being on the phone to the police. I wouldn't have let it go anywhere, regardless of there being a Que of traffic. I'm sure anyone sat in the traffic wouldn't have let someone take there car either.

Sure they werent just pikeys looking for scrap metal?

I thought it was illegal to leave an uninsured car on the road side. If (i know it didn't have wheels but even so) it started rolling down the road after being parked up then hit another car surely you'd be screwed insurance wise.
