Euro + Chav ._.?

Featured Replies

Hey Guys

i remember back in the day buying Max Power + Redline etc and LOVING the jap body kits, stupid sound systems and ridiculous exhausts, however, it's rare to see that in the current 'Chavvy Car Mags' as its now all about Clio's decked on Porsche rims.

I kinda respect them but inaway it kinda annoys me.

ARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!

That is all i have to say on the subject of "CHAV" being used to describe a car modding style, despite many many many pedantic posts

Us VW folk lead the way.

VW lead the way? what by steeling parts from other car's?

i'm sure Alex will be along soon to put you right on your 'chav' mag comments.

i hate the way 'chav' gets used so often when to describe cars, clios are nice aswell 172 's are the best shape!

All those 'chav' mags have jumped on the Euro bandwagon. It is annoying though- I think as long everyone recognises that VAG cars made Euro what it is today then all is well.

stuff is only cool before it gets mainstream, euro is now mainstream, therefore not cool anymore?

and now the dub scene has a dilemma on it's hands, it now has to come up with a new and innovative look to replace the now uncool euro look

who cares if its mainstream, did u like it because it was good or because it was edgey and made u "different"

i have loved dubstep for years, just because annie mac and zain lowe play it on radio 1 doesnt stop me from loving it!

euro sucks, debadged grills have no soul.

who cares about people doing a certain fad? In ten years time it'll be as passe as having a bodykit on.

How much back in the day are you talking?

Max Power used to be a big thing as people who owned the mag featured cars didnt have build threads or whore pics everywhere so unless you knew the owner the cars were mostly never seen untill they were featured. So it was always new/fresh each month.

Now there is no point buying the mags as its just full of the 'players', forum cars where you have seen the things numerous times or people that keep sending their car pics in to the mags desperate to get attention.

As long as it's Done Right™ then i'm happy.

To be honest from what I've seen its all the kids that have got into VWs over the last few years that are the ones who think they are uber elite for owning a Volkswagen. They slate cars for having bodykits so the owner goes out and makes it 'euro' and they still slate it. Essentially what they want is to be 'above' everyone else. Having a Volkswagen doesn't make you above anyone, being 'euro' doesn't make you above anyone. Its all down to taste.

I'm not really fussed if people start shaving there Clios, Corsas, Novas, Puntos etc etc cause I like that style and I think it works well on anything. Obviously there will be horrid cars like that clio will the fully smoothed bumper but then again there was a 6n2 with the same thing done and it looked gash on both cars.

I don't see why attention to detail on a Volkswagen is okay but attention to detail on a Corsa isn't. I'd rather see it on some Porsche hoops, on the floor with a bit of smoothing than with a huge win and massive fart can.

No wonder everyone outside of Volkswagen thinks were a bunch of nice people. So many people act like elitists with there heads up there own arses its bound to happen.

it's comments like this that just back up the view expressed on the passion ford forums, that we are all just doing stuff to be 'different' and 'cool'

I like seeing cars outside the VW range being 'Euro'd' so to speak.

To be fair take any car, tidy up the bodywork, take off a few unsightly rubbery bits, slam it on some nice wheels, giving the car tuck without the aid of bigger than standard rolling radius...do all this and any car will look tasty.

This kind of look might have been started by VW enthusiasts but VW don't own the look and neither to the enthusiasts, so its only right that other people try it with different cars.

What annoys me though is when someone takes a car, take the rubbery bits off, gets a smooth bodykit that touches the deck, massive 18" wheels on a tiny car and then tries to pass that off as Euro. Yes it has tuck, the bodywork is smooth and on the deck but its just not the same.

Personally i take a different look on things - i think alot of people get really obsessed with this term "scene" its a load of bollocks!

The way i see it VW's are modded the way they are because they really only look cool done that way ie smoothed slammed you know the drill, whereas fords (as someone metioned earlier) are modded around a motorsport perspetive so thats why they look the way they do (generally speaking) it should be as simple as that! no point in getting all aggresive over car differences and acting like kids, (directed at the PF lot :| )

At the end of the day we all just want to do one thing.......MOD

^^^that's bollocks though tbh

any car can look good in any style if done well, what about the black and orange motor sport golfs at edition this year? they looked the tit's, and what about the 'brit' look that was around some years back? mk2 golfs still look good in that style now.

tbh its all about the checkered roof

gaaaaaay

Chequers are rat-look :ninja:

i for one hate copy cat's , I've had a decked clio pull up next to me on wolfrace wheels , black badges and thats about it , he goes " my cars more euro than yours"

fcuk off  VW made the euro scene , anything else euro'd aint right

I'm all for OEM+ now though , low on a nice set of rim's , standard bodywork - perfect 8-)

i have loved dubstep for years, just because annie mac and zain lowe play it on radio 1 doesnt stop me from loving it!

A breath of fresh air! This applies equally to cars and music - it really pisses me off when people stop liking things purely because it's "gone mainstream". They just no longer feel elite and have to find something else to be "better than you" about.

And things probably "go mainstream" because... they're good? Otherwise why would all these minions who have jumped on the bandwagon like it?

Now there is no point buying the mags as its just full of the 'players', forum cars where you have seen the things numerous times

know carls golf was in fastcar and darrens audi was in another mag and jays polo in pvw... anymore??

...turn out a phatt stanced dub n people will want to put it in a modified car mag.. kinda the idea??
