the "euro" styled cars have been in europe for ages and not just on volkswagens.. smooth as with airbrushed graphics. its abit different in the uk but still labled as euro.

the more simple clean look and OEM+ is what the dub scene has brought into the spot light. that said the vauxhall boys have been OEM+ there cars for years now swapping bits over from other higher spec models.

90% of saxo drivers seem to be chavs thats all. I dont class a max power or fast car mag reader as chav, I enjoy both I dont class car modders or all subaru drivers as chav either.

i don't know what 'look' my car (bora) falls under and because it's in max power does that mean it's chav?

personally i do what i like, i don't think i'd better go for this 'look' or that 'look' just whatever looks good in my eyes, the only real rule i follow is not to replace any part - beit wheels or bumpers with inferior quality items. i'd rather run modded stock bumpers then fibreglass body kit or i'd have a set of steel wheels than a cheap budget set of alloys.

if somone wants to brand my car to a certain look then thats up to them, i just do what i think looks good and 90% of my cars follow the above rule and always have so i don't follow a particular trend.

I don't know where you get the idea that Max Power and rivals have 'latched onto' this new Euro trend.

Euro look started back in the 1990s - it's evolved in the meantime but Max Power has featured Euro'd Volkswagens going back to the time when Prox was wearing nappies. The brown Saxo above was built by Ben Chandler, who is a staffer on Fast Car, a 'chav' magazine apparently. It's not a chavvy car.

Also, just because someone owns a modified car which isn't a Volkswagen it doesn't make them a chav. And, on the flip side, just because someone owns a sweet Euro'd VW doesn't mean they aren't a chav. Actually, while I'm on the subject, banding the word chav around in relation to modded cars is just perpetuating the stereotype held by a lot of other motorists.

TBH it doesn't matter if you've got Halfords special rims or £2k chrome BBS splitties, if you're young and have a loud exhaust on your hot hatch guess what, most uneducated types will think you're a chav. So, as educated car enthusiasts, let's not tar other people with the same brush just because they don't share your taste in modifying. We're all basically into the same thing, just different parts of the same scene.

Euro cars are appearing in lots of mags because it's popular at the moment, and there are some really well built non-VAG Euro cars about. Mags are out to inspire, but generally speaking you're always going to feature the kind of cars which are getting built at that particular moment. At the moment, Euro is very very popular. Big kits aren't.

The extreme modified scene (big bodykits and tacky chrome 20" wheels, on small hatchbacks etc) tend to get classed as CHAV cars, but its wrong, i know a guy who had a corsa b a few years ago with that ultimate velocity (if thats the right name) body kit, and had 18" chrome multispoke wheels, car was painted green and purple flip with lots of metal flake, propper tacky car i thought. But he is FAR from a CHAV, hes a trainie doctor, might actually be a doctor now, not spoke to him in ages, anyway he spent over £10k modding that car. If a CHAV had that sort of money, I'm willing to bet my left nut that he/she wouldnt be able to beat the temptation of blowing it all on booze, drugs and horrible gold jewlery

I'm sure that saxo used to be in wolverhampton around my school. that was the first euro'd car id seen about.before all the volkswagens even though there arent many about down my sides. Got to be one of the best 'euro'd cars iv seen'. the interioir was beautiful on that and iv only seen that done on cars in the last couple years.

I think people are confusing white males that dont dress in jeans but where tracksuits and instead of liking the bbs wheels they like the wolfrace style, however are still well mannered and are decent people with those who dress in the same kind of clothing etc, but mannered in a differnet way and have no motivation in life but to live on benefits and drink pisss.

Doesn't pretty much everyone though? Even the people going OEM style are following a trend at the moment. Actually for all the "[censored strop]' attitude that gets kicked out of the rat scene, they're following a trend too. Unless you're going Bosozoku, which hasn't really been done in the UK yet, or building a lowrider you're touching on already popular territory. Even if you've got the rarest wheels on the planet.

Walk around a car show and it's all about getting noticed. Noticed because you've got the right wheels, noticed because you're sump-breaking low, noticed because you've got a zillion powahs, noticed because you've got the wildest paint or an immaculate interior. People want to get a thumbs up from other enthusiasts, even if they've built the car for themselves it's always good to get a nod of approval from your peers. If not, why show it?
