Few little changes, don't know if you can call them updates...

Fancied a different rocker cover, liked the look of the G40 one so bought one :-D , Tried fitting it when i got it but realized the original cover bolts aren't long enough to reach the cam journals to hold it down. Didn't want to spend ages looking for some so....

Also, as jon noticed there was still glue/tape residue from the side strips. Looked pretty manky so purchased a "toffee wheel" from eBay and set to work on it tonight 8-)

Bought a propper airbox and ducting from a GT set-up, want it looking OEM.

Gonna have to take off the air flow metre and machine an adapter take its place.

Haha, do i need to know that mate?

And she will be having half a coil off on the back, axle spacers removed and arches pulled/flared.

Nice little touch with the rocker bolts 8-) You turn down some hex bar to make them?

Look forward to seeing more :)

Nice idea, you might wanna stick a washer between bolt and rubber though :-)

Good idea :) , the size of the hex bar iv used, point to point is the same diameter as the washer on the standard items, so its not actually needed but I suppose it won't hert.

Have you heard from salty yet then? He's looking for an afh bike Carb inlet , told him to go to you.

Maybe yours were missing but these bolts^^ originally had another washer as well as the fixed ones on the head of the bolt. They are what actually seal the hole by compressing the rubber so its best if you bang some on there. I'm sure you could machine some nice ally ones 8-) Plus it'll stop the bolts mashing up the rubber when you tighten em.

Yeah I've replied to saltys PM, cheers for sending him my way

Had a another very productive day on this yesterday,

Got the air intake system sorted, Fuel system adjusted and bolted down to suite new position, ARB blocks and ARB back on, drive shafts on and the weber's idle speed and mixture to a stable idle.

Before i did anything though i made a trip to halfords and got my filthy mits on a "Gunson Colourtune kit", Basically something that helps you set up the fuel/air mixture, so ill be using this next week to fine tune it all the way up the rev range.

IMAG0369.jpg

Some pictures of the airbox, and adapter thats in place of the AFM, as you can see the fuel pump/filter needs to be relocated after the GT airbox has taken its place,

IMAG0356.jpg

IMAG0357.jpg

IMAG0358.jpg

So the fuel pipes had to be lengthened so it could be mounted infront of the box,

IMAG0365.jpg

Much neater :-D

Then it was time to fit the ARB blocks and ARB, Some pics of my blocks...

Still to do:

Fix front end on properly (bumper, lights and loom)

Get some serviceable wheels on

Fine tube weber

put the interior back in

Bleed brakes

fit new rear bearing kits

and then MOT!

Beast! almost there now man! engine bay looks really neat mate. did you speak to salty about the condition of them steels?

  • Author

Cheers mate, and not yet.

Loving the look of that bay :)

  • Author
if not, my mate has some borbet c's i could ask if he will borrow you

I think with salty's set plus my spare wheel i might have 4 decent ones (hopefully), if not that would be great.

What size are they?

  • Author
Beautiful! I hope to see this fully complete very soon :-)

Cheers dude, where the progress on yours by the way?

  • Author
