Why aint you painted the ends of the boost return pipe bits?

He thought i was using them for something so masked them off, i might be making some caps to go over them, will paint them or something, will do fine for now.

Had an epic fail whilst working on this last night, should be an easy fix though,

As i was explaining to my mate kenny how exactly the oil is pumped around an engine, a loud hissing noise suddenly cut me off, followed by a bang and an epic water explosion

Basically the radiator return pipe split at the thermostat, send every last drop of the 90degree coolant in the air and nearly all over me

I've two coolant hose blowouts in my time both on my mk2, and they weren't pleasant. but like you say its an easy fix.

Yeah its just a case of buying some new stuff, which iv allready done :-)

It was funny after it had happened though, pretty scary at first becuase i had the air intake off and water was going everywhere!

Did abit more work on the Ah-Be-da engine last night, getting it ready for paint etc.

Lifted it onto the holder on my own because i'm hard as fuck.

Need cleaning.

And the car went for its MOT this morning....

And she passed!!!

Desperately need to go lower, starting to think the springs are not -60/-80mm , Also need to get my banded steelies sorted.

May have to cut a coil off front and back.

Did a bit more work on the engine tonight, got a first coat of paint on it and cleaned the piston crowns and bores.

Not into painted engine blocks silly colours :p

Also got a first coat of paint on my second set of TCA's, Also trial fitted my new polybushes, they're strong flex bushes, pretty good actually, cheap too at £40 a set!

Getting really fed up with the 13"x5.5" tarantulas already , especially with the 175 50 yokos on, they look like little castors!

Sooo, i trial fitted the 14x8 and 14x7" (front) banded steelies,

I'm so gutted that i've only got 2 x 8" and 1 x 7" of them, But i cant afford to get another same steel wheel, get it banded (£120 inc postage) get the same 195 45 falken tyre, or get 2 other different decent tyres, and get it powder coated. So the plan for now is to just get a steel wheel and run two 6j rims on the front (already have one)

Got on with skimming the cylinder head of the ABD this week....

I rather like it too with the steelies on, The front will be coming down another 15-20mm, and probably another 10mm on the back.

Lol why can't you believe it? It works great, and looks much better than the standard ones.

It's only down 60mm , gonna be going 100mm on the front and 80mm on the back.

Well, the polo has gone through quite a hard time this week.

The paintwork has always been pretty bad on it, so with abit of help iv started rubbing it all down and doing abit of fillering the imperfections , ill then be giving it a first coat of red oxide.

Iv also given the banded steelies a colour change,

Bought a very rare MOMO Nova 300mm steering wheel off ebay the other day which had a very rare mounting PCD of holes, couldn't find any one who sold one on ebay that would fit a polo spline so had to machine one myself

Had to butcher an old steering wheel to get the spline boss out first , sadly no pictures of the wheel after, it's too violent.

Then cut off all the non concentric parts so i could grip it in a 3 jaw....

Then turned it down so i had a cylindrical shape down to a desired dimension..

Didn't get any pictures mid way of machine the steering boss itself, mostly because it was a pain in the arse, but here's the finished product..

Ill get a pic of it fitted later on today, still needs abit of adjustment as the wheel sits quite close to the stalks.
