Was a bit of both, alloy sumps broke easier than the steel ones.. as Guy found out

Haha, its getting a semi smoothed engine bay so couldnt leave a big redundant hole in it.

A propper set-up, 32/36 weber DCD, pulled off a 1.6 cortina GT IIRC, 200bhp

With a single carb with aids

Well made quite a bit of progress today so its not looking so far away now!

Started on the body filling today, will get it sanded down one night next week end it will be ready for a second filling, then primer and paint etc.

Got it on , them pics are just before filler.

Will cover up the shitty metal/seam sealer welds

Not bad with filler when i'm not rushing/pissed off.

The battery tray took quite abit of filler, so thats gonna be the hardest bit with it being flat and surrounded with metal so i can't get in there with a sanding pad.

Turrets and scuttle are really easy tasks though!

Its pretty shit aint it, espeically when you somehow get it on the back of your head

I'm not looking forward to filler time. I May employ the use of a local ricer, he likes filler and paint.

Its amazing how much of a gap VW leave where the turrets fit to the inner wings, did you dress these in a bit?

Mine only had a gap on the driverside for some reason, i just knocked it back, stitched and filled it.

Next step is sanding all the filler back off, then fillering again

Mine were pretty bad both sides. Noticed VW had Mig welded round the front corner of the O/S turret at the bottom. Only this corner though, which the gap wasn't bad on. None of the others though!

Weird, mine seemed alright to be honest.

Looking forward to getting it all in paint now!

Continue stripping down for re-spray - Rear bumper, clusters, windows out

Remove front headlight/grill mount for powder-coating

Remove subframe for powder-coating

Finish welding on engine bay

Grind down and strip paint and Fill areas for smoothing

De-grease engine bay

Prep bodywork

Re-spray

Send off parts for powder-coating (ARB, Subframe, front suspension parts)

Re-fit the above

Remove rear beam + fuel tank for powder-coating

Re-underseal underneath

Re-fit beam and fuel tank

Finish building engine

Re-fit engine
