Don't know wether to run the HK head, or a GT/ABD one? I've got a fully re-built GT/ABD head with new guides/valves, thoroughly cleaned etc

Or do i do the same to the HK head and have a much cooler looking engine?

Go on eBay for rings there's a shop on there does the afh ones and other polo ones for £60-70 quid all 4 sets mate

and £250 to £300 quid is expensive just for megajolt isnt it especially when you can get megasquirt v2 that included ignition side for like £330 and that way you can go injection too rather than carbs

Just found some somewhere, but it says they're for a 0.5mm oversize engine?

That ain't for a overbore because it's not enough to fit bigger pistons

Don't think it would be, it would make it a livelier engine off boost with it having smaller valve and ports, but peak power would be hindered.

It would just mean having to do a full rebuild/restoration on another head which costs a lot of money, especially on a mecky head that's even more hard to find parts for. Would be cool though.

I also wanted to do my own rocker cover, which i couldn't do for the mechanical head with being convex'd

I've a spare set of 600's too if your after um.

No trumpets though.

bit pricey but i need a boost gauge anyway and if i bought a cheaper aem wideband and a matching boost gauge it would come to more and have less features... thats how i'm justifying it to myself anyway

It is a lot of money, but money well spent. Looks awesome actually, but having that aswell as the megajolt to set-up

Whats the failsafe thing all about? Doesn't really explain it in depth, it could probably be used to cut the power to the coil though couldn't it?

Also, i'd mess around with the laptop all day!

400cc carbs instead, most likely ZXR400

Gonna try it on 400cc carbs instead, the throttle(s) size doesn't need to anywhere near as big as would be if it was running NA

8v and 16v manifolds are not compatible if that's what you mean!

An actual update,

have been working on the carbs for this for a while, have been through a mega clean/rebuild.

Gonna use them on the breadie first however, as i want to give it a good send off at GTI festival and then sell it

Jesus, I might just pull out the spare set of bike carbs I have lying about and polish them up too! (not for usage, just cause I'm a magpie)

Every nut and bolt on this will be stainless. Its the one thing i regretted the first time i put it on the road.

OMG an update.

Though, this is work that has been started previously, and now finished. Anyway, everyone likes pictures.

This has had the port mould casting marks smoothed off, the short side radius of the valve throat area smoothed and the guide-boss shortened.

The plan was to model the port in solidworks, and run a CFD session on it. Still trying to think of the best way to get an accurate representation though....
