Mk2f Coupe, Under Its Second Restoration!

Featured Replies

Your manifold joining stack things look good, but did you not think to have a lip on the ends to prevent pipes coming off and such like 9/10 pipe fittings have, especially with boost?

Very nice 8-)

You could just space the carbs to match these? Not overly difficult to make up some extended fuel unions and throttle linkages between carbs!

Totally agree - if you have the equipment and time for making stuff like that respacing the carbs is easy :)

Thats a good idea. Didnt think of that.

Will look into it 8-)

Something put me off last time i looked at doing it, think it was the fuel unions as they're a push fit T peice.

I found a guide before for doing it, just make new t pieces to suit :)

I spaced the carbs on mine max maybe some info in my build I think but tbh it's more hassle than its worth an you have to make more than the fuel unions and it was a faff balancing them properly like that too

Ah ok, thanks for that.

Ill take a look at see what can be done, as it would be great if the runners were all short and straight,

As all this flow work should hopefully add up to something measureable!

Yeap, seems stupid having unequal length inlet tracts with a lip internally when going to all this flow effort

Aye. The internal edge on the runners will be chamfered.

Pete have you got any pics? I cant see any...

No pics as I've had a new phone since I sold the carb conversion so I lost all my pics off my old one :(

No worries, ill have a go at spacing the carbs to suit the runners better. Itd be nice to have to carbs as close to the head as possible, as I've kind of specced this engine to have a high power band.

Good machining mate, and great progress

P.s bet that was a bitch to programme haha

Pretty simple component really lol

Cheers jake,

Aye it was quite a long programme to write lol, 14,000 lines!!

The step down was 0.05mm which is why it was so big, as I'm sure you know, the complexity of the finished component has no relavance to the code!

Some bits arrived, all for the HK-ABD engine obviously;

So excited now!

Dug the decked ABD block out and trial fitted the water pump, it looked massive!

And then the hyrdo head all wrapped up for later this year when the coupe makes an appearance in the lock-up!

Hopefully be february time. Then i can stop fucking about with these 8v engines,

And move to FI 8v  - Plus BIKE CARBS!

Haha ..

Going to get alot of stuff powder coated on mine tbf.

Btw when you are measureing the rad mount, what were you measuring it for ?

Edit: wrong thread lmao

Do you mean on the breadvan? I was measuring it because i'm getting rid of the standard one,

And building a front brace with rad mounts on it too.

Hopefully be doing that soon!

I had the same idea thats all.. how much clearance is there between the brace and bumper ?

Cool project :-D

What advantages does a Mechanical head have over a GT head?

Edited by bugpolo

There's a huge thread in the engine section, have a read of that

Thats some good machining mate! Wish I had that level of skill so I can make a turbo manifold!
