Any updates on this?

Urm not on this actual car matey,

Lots of progress on the engine, though the hyrdo head engine is now going into the breadvan.

what about the mechy?

what about the mechy?

That will be going in this, dont know wether to boost it, or go all out on it?

Redesigned ports etc, though with boost it wouldnt really matter.

Thinking just a HK-G40

Boosted through bike carbs and mappable ignition

Decent cam,

Dunno tbh mate

That sounds mental, do the ports match on the PY block?

Yeah mate, wont be using a G40 block no point.

Will be lowering the CR of another cheaper block.

So not a HK-G40 then?

The G40 comes from the charger ill be using dude, no point in using the bottom end.

So a HK head, on any 1272 block, G40 charger, zxr400 carbs, suitable cam.

How did I land here?

Been pressing next page for hours...

Did the SU carb ever get used?

Colin Campbell describes how the SU HIF was changed from the Merlin design to meet US Federal exhaust emission laws.

It's fuel air metering is more precise under a wider range of conditions.

  • spring loaded jet needle - always centralised
  • concentric float chamber - hills and corners do not adversely affect mixture (good for track)
  • fuel viscosity compensator - temperature effect on fuel minimised
  • part throttle bypass emulsion - better atomisation when slow or idle running
  • cold start enrichment - rotary valve to augment, does not wear main jet head
  • overrun valve - better combustion at high vacuum when ease off throttle

For emissions control it also has the not so tuner friendly

  • sealed mixture adjustment (might be a metal cap preventing access to the viscosity compensator)
  • crankcase emission control - blow-by gas recircirculation with oil separator
