I'm afraid i dont know the dimensions for the hole centres any more. Lobbed the drawings i made because I'm no longer aloud to sell my custom stuff.

As for the rust , i really do think if i left it for another week or something it would have been a cut and weld jobbie.

Cheers for the comment!

Iv just grinded everything off the back of them so that they sit flush onto steelies. They then have to be cable tied into the wheel like any other oversized trim.

Max

with in time wont they wear the sidewall on the tyre with them being 1 inch bigger ???

  • Author

Not really.

what are the thimgs uv made then max? still cant figure them out...noticed theve been tapped though....

why u not allowed to sell your custom stuff? or just the stuff uv made at work? and ill just have to get the stub axle off one day...lol

Yeah its just the easyest way.

And I'm just not mate.

The Little blocks are my answer to sagging bumpers lol.

I knew none of you would guess.

Max

Don't have to sell me any, I've got a full machine shop at my disposal ;)

How do they work?

  • Author

Well you will know that you just have them shitty single m6 bolts that grab the little flaps on your bumper? Well one of these blocks go under the flap and then one above the metal part , drill two holes , bolts together and it sandwiches the bumper upwards so no more sagging.

I know what i mean :?

i like your box, should give good clearance if your going low. are you making the pipe from the box to your mid section too? i made mine and made it curve slightly more than standard for better clearance onto driveways etc.

like the idea of your bumper clips too, smart plan.

i see how they work, simple yet very effective.

impressed so far...

Cheers geeser. I though of them when i got abit fustrated with the carb I'm using, Kicked the bumper and it just fell off :?

All the clips and bolts wer attatched yet still so easy to dislodge.

Iv recently refined the backbox and sprayed most of it black with a polished lip , pretty chuffed with how it looks since its homemade , Well workshop at workshop made , but you see the point. And yeah I'm just gonna weld it to the section of pipe that went into the original backbox.

Just cant wait till its all done.

yea will be quality. make you you get some pics up of it too mate.

might have a go at making some of your clips myself :)

I've got some quarter inch stainless kicking about so ill see what happens, trying to keep weight down tho.

but thats l0w on my priorities at the moment what with being halfway through arch rolling, shopping for new suspension and planning the head conversion LOL

any chance of pics of your bumper with the clips fitted? would be interested to see the difference

cheers, Dan

UPDATES: 1/7/2010

Its basically ready , just need to bleed the brakes and fettle with the engine , still having some trouble gettin her to fire up but I'm pretty sure its something spark related.

Theres definetly fuel getting in becuase i took the silcone hose off that joing the carb to the manifold and there was a little puddle of fuel where the hedgehog used to sit, also the side walls of the runners and the inside of the silicone hose was wet with fuel. Iv got full compression and iv got a spark , however i THINK iv either got the leads in the wrong orientation, I'm sure the order is correct from the dizzy cap but i think its 90degrees out if that makes sence?

The reason i think this is becuase iv checked the plugs after cranking and there dry, but theres definelty fuel flowing from the carb down the inlet manifold because of what i checked above, but i think becasuse the plugs are actually sparking, its igniting the fuel , but at the completely wrong time so it wont fire up.

I'm definelty getting a spark becuase i can see it and iv also took a belt of each one just to make sure lol , I dont know if its strong enough though, and i also dont know what factors would be causing it to be a pretty shit spark.

so , to re-cap , I'm defo getting fuel and air , and also getting a spark so any ideas? I'm sure valve to piston timing is bang on aswell.

heres some pics of the more up to date stuff.

This is my coil wiring, if someone could re-iterate if this was definelty correct that would be great, the brown wire is a ign live.

This is the fueling set-up iv used, consiting of a universal filter and the T peice method, works pretty well.

19062010553.jpg

Something I'm pretty prouf of , my throttle linkage, had to basically mate a mini holder onto a custom bit then weld it onto another custom bit lol, works a treat though.

Some pics of how it looks up to now:

Then i got bored and sprayed the cam cover red and took the manifold cover off ready to spray the manifold with some high temp black paint.

06062010540.jpg

Also, because of the rad being completely different to the old one , i had to make alot of pipe reducers and joiners, and also had to buy some of that helixed pipe that can bend back on itself and not kink,

This is the stuff i bought, you can see how much it bends without kinking

06062010534.jpg

oppose to the normal stuff

06062010533.jpg

I also recylced an old drill bit holder to house my reays, haven't got any pics as of yet, but its holding the relay that powers the fuel pumps, the fan relay and the coil relay.

06062010536.jpg

Heres a pic of her with her new eyes :)

19062010562.jpg

Also got some new shoes for her for when shes back on the road, some 13x6 et15 wellers, gonna re-paint them soon, white spokes with a black lip. The top one is the best one , the bottom one is the worst, pretty horrific, enough for me to be able to punch through the mounting hole with my hand lol, so got rid of that and bought a spare one of my mate.

06062010538.jpg

Heres a pic of the one i replaced the fucked one with, came with no tyre so i started straigh away.

12062010545.jpg

12062010546.jpg

Heres a few pics of them on the car, fucked tyres and shit paint but i love them allready, got some 165 65 goodyears to go on them.

19062010552.jpg

If any of youve got any info regarding my wiring or why you think its not firing up, or if youve seen anything iv been reatarded with then let me know! really want to get the bitch on the road soon.

Peace.

LMFAO @ the Red Bull can! Quality!

lol you never seen that before?

run those wellers as they are ahaha!

  • Author

you dont understand how fucked one of them was, £20 for 3 wellers is a bargain though :)

ahaha, rotted through?

  • Author

put it this way, i give it a good punch in the middle of it where the mounting holes are any my hand went through it.

Other 3 + the 1 i bough speratly are mint lol

got any idea about my non-startin problem lol?

erm about the ignition problem, check the order if the sparks. as its 1342 clockwise (i made the mistake of thinking the engine went counter clockwise lol! this is as your lookin at the cam btw)

or check the amplifier is working. if you can upgrade it to the golf mk2 gti shit.

whats the red and black wire cut off?

now iv seen the fueling i understand what people have been saying lol. looks a bit busy though lol.

is that radiator a raddo one? and why dont get new hoses made up properly again so its a bit less busy.

show me this fusebox/ relay business lol I'm liking the wheels, what they from? the fucked wheel? nah, just skim it over with some filler and you are reett =]

i bet that mazda is a beast! bet he goes thru so much oil and fuel though! more oil than what i am....haha

  • Author

yeah I'm pretty certain its something to do with the order plus me being retarded but cheers for the help, so if I'm looking at it from the dizzy side , where should they all be? just to make sure, dont even know why I'm askin this to be honest but i just want to make sure.

The amp might be on its last legs cus the spark is pretty week to be honest but its defiently there, just in the wrong order me thinks :(

The rads of a focus mate, its really nice and think and shiney, looks sick compared to the old part, as for the hoses , there such an example of workmanship i dont care if there busy lol, took me ages to do and look pretty good.

Yeah ill get a pic of the relay/drill box lol , its pretty cool. its just to keep them outa the way,

As for the wellers there off a mini, propper cool though, some nice dish for 6" wheels, and no way can i used the fucked rust one, its so fucked lol. its ok iv got a full set now anyway.

Max

well on mine, lead/ plug 1 is tileted toward you so its not at the top. but id imagine yours is silgtly different. tis just worth taking your time with the spark order and to get a strobe light thing. cant think of its proper name.

if the amps on its last legs id replace it tbh. ull need all the help you can get with it being the first time youve fired it up sinse fitting your bits.

regarding the busy engine bay. our engines dont really fill the gaps do they, so i guess its all good lol.

they are proper cool. and for 20 quid, BARGIN! why cant i find anything like that! lol

i've got a neww old stock one of those wellers somewhere in the garage at my parents house.

Iv just checked my leads and yeah if your looking at the dizzy from the passenger side wing, number one lead is tilted towards the front of the car, then going anti-clockwise it goes 3 , 4 ,2 i think. I'm sure thats right, I also need someone to tell me exactly where the wires from the amp and coil goes,iv got a ign live going to the positive side, a black wire from the loom going upto the amp going to positive, then a green from the loom onto the positive, then the thick black wire from the loom earthed, its that definetly right? I'm sure I'm getting a spark though,

Is there anyone around sheffild with a carb conversion using a mk2 igntion that would come and give me a hand???
