Thanks mate,

yeah it does help alot , Saves having to pay someone else to do it or buying off the shelf.

Just read the whole thread, great project and good work, kinda giving me the inspiration to sort mine out :D.

will be keeping a close eye on this one.

Bagged :-D

Plans to rebuild, Paint.

Fit GT cam, Mild polished inlet ports , Polished exhuast ports, Port matched AAV Inlet manifold , De-hedge-hog, DMTR

4 branch and Gt exhaust.

Dont know what car to put it in though :-(

What engines she running?

1.3 8 valve with GT cam, bike carbs and Ashley 4 branch exhaust

Woah! , So an AAV and not a 3F (GT) with all them mods?

What are the advantages of "de-hedge hogging"?

  • Author

Its quite a big restriction to air flow.

Made a nice difference on its own to be fair.

But i don't think the GT inlet has one does it? On yours i mean.

Nah it doesnt, I've always just wondered cos I've seen you do it a couple times now! :-)

I wonder why it hasn't :?

It maybe because of it having its fuel injected close to the head or something.

Who knows?

Hows it going anyway john? You done anything lol?

It has a plenum chamber sort of thing under where the TB sits.

Umm currently drawing up plans for a cage on autocad, also deciding which megasquirt kit to buy, and how i'm gonna set up my crank triggered ignition. Whilst doing a write up of the first bit of my project haha.

When's this one gonna be running? I showed my housemate (mini enthusiast) and he keeps asking me how it runs with the HIF! Get on it :-p

Lol who's that then?

Nah iv got problems with ignition :-( , Things are shorting them selves out and something's draining the battery. Really starting to piss me off.

I'm hoping to get it done soon though.

With your crank triggered ignition, the easiest thing to do is just make a bracket holding one part of the sensor over the crank pulley, and the mount the pick up on the crank pulley?

Depends what you use to be honest.

loving the car mate whats that carb off ? looks like 1 of my mates metro am sure of it mini based anyway

bit of a odd fuel set up tho ? but hats off to u for trying summit different :D

be gd to see how this plans out

keep it updated ;)

Its the set-up as all the carb'd cars on here nath. Just a t-peice. Really easy to do.

I need to give the igntion a good looking at, Somethins discharging the battery so it wont lety me crank her over.

also things seem to be shorting out, and I'm gettin a week spark.

Plans are to drop an ABD in now anyway Haha, May use the SU carb (of a 1380 mini) still though because it looks like it could be a good'en!

Max

its just the way its mounted on to the mani thats different i mean i was half a sleep when i wrote that  not seen one done like that before

keep up the gd work mate and get it running !

  • Author

Oh do you actually mean the carb , not the way the carb is fueled?

Yeah its weird, but its a side draught carb, Not downwards draught like the webber Meaning that was the only way i could do it without making my own manifold.

Cheers dude!

Spanking,

Had it rolling roaded?

no, but it should be good for 80-90hp. Feels quick!

  • Author

yeah thats the power id expect mate.

  • Author

Right , after a lot of faffing on ebay trying to organise getting the ABD i gave up.

Some people.

The plans for this are to continue to get it working, Not a hard job. Then see how she runs.

Then maybe sell the set up, And fit these instead;

The quest for GT power from a 1.05 continues!

Dont give up pall, one of the coolest projects i seen for a while :)

  • Author

Lol i wont.

She's getting my full attention now.

Me and the old man are making a custom garage to put her in lol

The 1.05 bottom end is allways gonna stay, And I'm going to be testing different fuel set-ups etc to see what is the best.

My daily is getting a full carb'd GT though.

See that thread.

Anyway, we towed here back to my house today, She's been off the road for nearly a year now :-( , Really gonna get cracking on with it over the winter.

Been rebuilding the bike carbs and learning some more about them.

Have had a pretty productive week/weekend.

I'm gonna be giving the rear brakes another bit of TLC as they are looking pretty sorry for them selves.

Progress on them.

The CNC machined adapter plate for the weber DMTL to MH inlet

151120101140.jpg

151120101141.jpg

Also had to port the inlet manifold for a nice smooth transit

151120101139.jpg

You can just about see the green marker pen where it had to be ported.

Also took these off so i can re-fit my design of ARB blocks, Gonna shift the anti roll bar even further forward and downwards than anything else.

Watch this space :ninja:

Yesss like the look of this! You gonna hone those bores? Look pretty glazed

Looking at that inlet, my early mecanical one would be useless. I'll tig those bits on to a spare MH inlet and if your up for giving it a bit of port matching and skimming the face i'd be well appreciative.

Adapter looks sweet as fook
