there was a pretty stubborn ring that covered the 4 bolts connecting the brake assembly to the axle but once we got past that it is pretty easy to slip the shims in between without disconnecting the brake lines, if you have 2 pairs of hands at it.

Nah I didnt take any unfortunately as I pulled the car out the garage and straight away decided it needed the other one in as the difference just wasn't enough for my liking. You could only just tell we had done anything and didn't really give that much more clearance with only one shim

I don't really want to go for two as I don't want my tyres to be eaten too much, plus it'l cost me twice as much for two sets haha.

I'll go for just the one shim at first and see what it looks like and how much clearance I get from it.

yeah fair play, its not really camber that is a problem for tyre wear, the major problem is if your wheels end with toe then you will start eating tyres. You do put a bit more strain on your wheel bearings with camber though

they weren't too bad if you got a guide to do it from. we just followed steps from a haynes manual and once we had done the one side the second side only took 30 mins

you can get a new gti splitter from a VW dealer for about 50-55

they are daylines from germany so LHD which is a bit painful

So after the car came back came back from the bodyshop the badgeless grill was never the same as they decided they needed to cut some clips off to get it to fit

then 2 days ago the grill felt it was finally time to fly off the car on the motorway and nearly take out a mk5 gti on the way!

To take its place in went the original badged grill and to be honest it looks pretty decent so may just keep it...

Yeah man, the original grill is where it's at.

yeah but will look good while it lasts! been pulled over before for technically being uninsured and having an illegally spaced plate but they gave me nothing so hopefully can talk me way out of these too ha
