i'm not being terribly useful here but i don't think you can turn them off, the whole point of them is that you can always be seen? Am I right?

Yes i think your right, but I've been told that you can turn them off if you so wish.

you can turn them off , you have to scroll through the computer and it should be listed under safety i think, i know this works on the 9n3. hope this helps

you can't on my new golf, so it'll be the same on the polo

some strange new EU law I'm afraid.

Ye, its currently a pending EU rule i think (unless they passed it recently) that says that all new cars have daylight running lights fitted (most EU makers already do this). its been a rule in some EU countries for years but now they want it blanket across them all.

there was another they mentioned that ALL vehicles should travel with minimum of dips or something along those lines.

Yes i think your right about the EU law regarding running lights good business for the bulb companies though.

Yes i think your right, but I've been told that you can turn them off if you so wish.

According to the handbook (I've got an Engish one!), the Daylight RUNNING lights (dipped beam or side lights and number plate lit up) cannot be switched on or off manually - "contact a qualified workshop to have them deactivated"

However, the Daylight DRIVING lights (separate lights in headlights or front bumper) can be activated and deactivated as follows:

Deactivating: Push the turn signal and main beam lever down and back and hold (right turn signal and headlight flash). Then switch the ignition on and off again for approx. 3 seconds.

Activating: Push the turn signal and main beam lever up and back and hold (left turn signal and headlight flash). Then switch the ignition on and off again for approx. 3 seconds.
