basically i have a knocking noise coming from the top drivers side suspension.

I've replcaed the top mount for a brand new one and the play is still there, now I'm thinking the that where the top mounts bearing sits on the top of the strut is worn..

is it commen for the strut to get worn so that the bearing just has play side to side on the sturt where it sits?
