how to fit an R click remote locking kit

Featured Replies

can this be made a sticky???

right i have had several people pm me with regards to fitting a remote central locking kit

so here is a very simple guide on how to fit it to a 6n/6n2 polo that has factory locking

in this instance the entire kit is fitted in the boot at the central locking pump

get your kit out of the box and connect it as follows

thick red on r click connect to the red/white on the cars central locking pump

thick black on r click connect to the brown wire at the pump

white lock wire connect to the grey/red at the pump

white/black connect to the grey/black at the pump

yellow and the yellow/black connect to the red/white wire at the pump

orange and orange/black not needed so tape them up

you will have 2 brown wires on the r click kit

connect one to the black/green indicator wire on the drivers side tailight

connect the other brown to the black/white on the passenger tailight (you will need to extend it

if you have total closure off the key then you will need to purchase a 4 pin relay to hook that up

when you have a relay connect it as follows

pins 86 & 87 of the relay connect to 12v+(this can be taken from the red/white at the pump

connect the green wire from your r click kit to pin 85 of the relay

connect pin 30 of the relay to the grey/red lock wire at the pump

thats it

i have not mentioned the gash looking led as most of my customers don't want it fitted but if you do want to fit it and want it in the front of the car somewhere just extend the red and black wires on it to reach where you want it

i have fitted lots of kits similar to this and it takes me around 30 minutes to do and that includes looming it all up to completely hide it all so even a complete novice should be able to dit it in around an hour and a half

any questions feel free to ask i am here to help as much as can

cheers

ken

yeah, the rclick plug and play unit is soso easy.

did mine in about 20mins including programming keys etc

  • Author

this is not a plug and play kit

it actually needs to be hard wired in and no programming of remotes is required

ah yea lol, still not too difficult :) good guide tho, found the rclick instructions worded a bit weird myself!

any idea what colour the lock and unlock wires are for a 2000 polo?

grey/red lock may also be grey

grey/black unlock may also be green

both can be found in the drivers sill of at the loom into the drivers door

you can make all of the connections at the central locking pump except the indicators

Thanks for getting back to me mate, the only available wires are Yellow/White, Black or Red. I've succesfully attached the unlock wire to green and it unlocks the doors but I cant seem to get the car to lock. I've tried attaching the lock wire to all 3 available wires and it seems to work on the red wire, the pump pumps but the doors dont lock, any idea what i'm doing wrong?

have you wired the kit for positive locking

you need to connect both the yellow and yellow/black to 12v

black is earth

red is 12v+

your white wire is for lock

your white/black wire is for unlock

Yea wired it up exactly as you said, do I need to wire up the 4 pin relay too?

When I click lock it makes a noise but the locks dont move

if your car has total closure then yes

Just worked it out...as i've got a slightly different alarm system to rightclick the yellow/black is an earth.

Now it all works, the damn thing keeps auto-locking as I haven't connected the door sensor, any idea where the wire for that might be?

  • Author

brown/white wire on the drivers side sill or you can get it on the drivers side a pillar behind the trim or directly at the pin switch in the door shut behind the trim

Thanks for all your help mate, saved me a ton!

Any idea where I can find a wiring diagram for it, save me asking a thousand questions on here? I've been looking on the net for the past hour but no joy

did it not come with instructions

i have a copy but not on my laptop and keep it for reference

  • 1 month later...

Hi on my rclick unit i have two thick red wires one with a fuse do they both connect to the red/white on the cars central locking pump :?

  • 2 weeks later...

any pictures of this actually wired up?

  • 2 weeks later...

I may sound really stupid but what is total closure? i ended up buying a cheaper one for 20 off of ebay, and am getting unlock but not lock

  • Author

total closure means if you hold the key in the door in the lock position and the windows go up then the r click will also do this upon remote locking the car provided you connect it of course

wheres the cheepest and best place to get one of these R-clikcks? eBay??

alex

Hi sorry to start littering this up again but this is the kit i purchased and can't seem to make it work!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=160370891320

I followed the instructions you put for the r click but to no avail. managed to get both buttons on the remote to upen the car but then started blowing one fuse after another. car would start auto locking and then wouldn't stop.

i might just call it a day let an auto electritian do it, just without the door locks or barrels i can't go anywhere because i can't lock the damn car! well i can but with a flat head screwdriver!!

Hi the diagram the person sent me is this, its obviously the air compresser diagram but what are the polo corresponding wires? it shows severing a wire to the motor switch, where is this??

I'm really sorry to bother you TROUBLESTARTER but i suppose at least it might help someone else who fails to buy a decent one like Rclick

Thanks in advance

Sam

brny

to hook it up to your car

you need to connect the white wire to the lock wire on the car (grey/red )

the white/black to the unlock wire on the car (grey/black)

both the lock and unlock wires can be found in the loom going to the drivers door in the footwell or in the drivers side sill loom

then connect the yellow/black and the yellow wires to 12v +

then connect your red wire to 12v+ and your black wire to earth

thats it

all this information is in the original first post

Right, iv'e done everything and no luck, the only thing different now it when the drivers door is open the buzz comes on when you leave your lights on. i can hear the box clicking but nothing happens, anyone know of a resonable auto electritian locally?
