first off. i already have my sub and amp (its a vibe set with built in sub). I had it in my old car but had the wiring kit supplied and fitted.

i know SOME of the basics...i need to connect the remote to the head unit, the power to the battery, and the ground to a bare metal part in the car.

just looking for some tips on where to start and what wiring kit i need?

I've got a vibe active sub, hopefully getting a wiring kit (vibe 4 gauge from halfords £20) and will take some pictures as I'm installing it :)

cheers mucca..just ideally where you run it through to the engine bay, where you run the wires to the boot and what socket you plug the remote cable to on the back of the HU

ok the power lead, attatch one end to the battery put an inline fuse in (maybe screw it back to the bulkhead up to you, mines just hanging) then under the water bottle theres a rubber grommet cut a hole and push that sucker in (a process very similar to thumbing a lazy one in hahaha) then take you passenger side glove box out and then pull it thru! then pul th carpet run it down the edge to your boot!

then the remote wire, there should be some little tabs on your wires and attatch em together, (might say remote on etc usually blue?) run it along the dash and were the power cable went,

then the earth, needs to be to bare metal if you have 60/40 split seats you can take the middle seat bracket out and sand the paint back, bolt the earth down and put the seat bracket back! then attatch you amp and sub!

inline fuse holder: most of the amp kits iv seen look asthough they already have these built in?

carpet: along the bottom of the door? just pull it out...wack the cables in then put the carpet back?

Grommit: cut a hole in the grommit, not the body work?

seats: how do i remove the upright bit of the seats? (i have 40/60s)

yea the amp will have a fuse but you still need one on the power line!

you need to take the plastic trim around the inside of the door off and the rear door card (if its a 3door) and theres aload of wires already there just whack it in there!

yes cut a hole in the grommet so u dont have to damage your bodywork, theres a tab on each end of the seats push it back with a flat blade screw driver!

think it all sounds relatively simple to do. do i need any specific wiring kit? my sub is 1600watt peak and about 600/700 rms?

was easy tho, if you have a 3 door 6n2,

plug the speaker cables into the back of the head unit, thread down the drivers side, around the back of the pedals.. then down the side, i zip tied mine to the cable for the bonnet release, then.. just simply pull the seals up from around the door, then push the cables down and work it all along till you get to the rear door card. (take the bottomback seats off.. its easy).theres a screw bottom left of the rear door card, undo that.. then fold the top of the back seat down, you'll see two grommits which you pop off with a flathead screwdriver.. there's also the device that the doors clip into.. unscrew this with an allen key (you'll see what i mean) then just literally pull the door card towards you, there will be a few pops and it'll come off, then just thread the wires through.. be careful they wont get trapped when you put the doorcard back on. and thats it.. do the same for the otherside with the remote and power cable, make sure you start the remote cable from the head unit and go to the boot.. i made the mistake of starting it in the boot now i cant thread it up to the headunit haha so ill have to re-do it tommorow :(, havnt attempted to get the power cable through the gromit or take the glove box off yet as i dont have the right torque screwdriver

yeh sounds good bud. could you not have run ALL the cables down the passenger side?

apparently you get feedback from the power or remote cable, that the RCA cables pick up and play the feedback through the speakers.. once you've done one side.. the otherside is 10 times easier so it doesnt take long.

i still need to find an earthing point and try get the power cable through the grommit lol, which terminal on the battery do i attach the power cable to? anyone?

iv had subs in two different cars and always had those fitted with all the cables running down the same sides. never had any interference?

i've run my ground wire to the threaded spike in the spare wheel well (6n2) then used the thing that screws down the threads to secure it.

you connect the 4gague (or whatever gague yours is) tothe +ve terminal of the battery
