what car are you putting them on? 195/45s will be fine for mk4/5s, but on a mk1/2 or 3 i'd go for a 165/50 to avoid any rubbing issues

yer m8 a mk4 6n. they wont be too bulgy on the outside no ?

no mate, thats the correct size and they look fine.

I'd go for 185/45-15 on anything less than a 7j to be fair..

but why? 195/45 is the correct size according to the manual and it doesn't look 'ballooned' at all. Clearance shouldn't be an issue on 6j on a 6n either.

edit: +they're cheaper, and a better range available

195mm is more than 6", i'd rather take that extra 10mm off the width to help fitment...

to aid fitment in what way? Surely you're not implying that it's harder to fit a 195 than a 185 to a 6j wheel? The 185 or 195 part isn't a bead to bead measurement, it's the tread width, which should really be a little wider than the bead to bead size of the wheel to keep it in line with the outer rim.

195 on a 6j is going to be completely square, if you drop the car by a large amount there would be more chance of rubbing than with 185/45.

195/45 is a slight stretch on an 8j, its virtually square on a 7j, i wouldnt even comtemplate putting them on a 6j, it's too much tread for a 6" wide wheel.

165/50/15 looks great on a 15'' 6j and fits easy looke even better on a 7j but fit the 6j perfect

195 45 will be fine. Back in the day there was no such thing as 185 45 or 165 50. And no one cared about stretch. There were 195 45 or 195 50. Had 45's on my low mk2 coupe on 6x15 and never had an issue.

195/45 are fine for a 6" rim. So are 185/45 but there is only nankang who do them.

That's a 185/45 on a 15x7 and IMO that looks perfect, nice profile, not really any stretch at all.

Going by that pic i think a 195 on a 6j would look crap.

Yeah agree with smithy. I used to have 195's, they don't balloon or anything just sit nicely flush with the wheel. 185/s do look a little better though.

Well we'll have to agree to disagree here smithy. Theres nothing wrong with 195/45 though.

Ah lol i dont no what to have 195/45 or 185 45 has anybody got any pics of them both on a 15" 6j rim ???

Hey all,

I've just got some 15" bbs rx2's (polo GTI version)

And was wondering what tyre would look best?

195-50

195-45

Or maybe

185-50

185-45

Any ideas, I would like to loose the balloon and maybe a little stretch or at least square/ sit flush with rims.

And what brands for size chosen?

Cheers
