Just wondering if anyone has had a go at re-triming their own interior, particularly their own seats.

I'm in the process of doing mine and figured it would be interesting to see if and what others have done.

take the seat covers off cut the stitches so u have a template to cut round sew materal to original around edge at a 1cm gap then sew seat back together easy lol

How does it attach on the under side of the seat though?

I've thought about doing this too, just unstitching the originals, use each piece as a template and stitch back together. Where would you buy the right type of leather to do it with? How much are you looking at for leather to cover a full set of seats?

got my leather from fabric ware house cost me £6 a meter used just under 4 but i only did the centers, did full seats on my lupo think i used something like 15 but did door cards too

If you took your seats to a trimmers what would be the difference? Will they not do exactly the same thing as you but just charge hundreds for labour?

Wow that sounds pretty reasonable actually. Is the leather and your home done stitching tough/durable enough for sitting on regularly?

When I get time I'm going to try this out on some rocco/rado fronts and genesis split rears :)

you can't buy leather in metres, (its cow shaped usually)

thats why it costs so much to get a professional to do it, each hide can be hundreds depending on the quality.

you can get good quality vinyl off ebay for about £5 a metre i think tho.

i did mine with vinyl last year and it looked pretty good, just a bit hard to sew tight angles and the clips can be a bit tough for most machines.

what sort of thread should be used? because pros use more industrial type sewing machines with tougher thread? and where could it be bought?
