A few months ago the gearbox in my 1.6 6n just gave in, I asked on here what replacements would fit mine, and was given a very helpful reply, I was told that there are a few direct replacement one and a few that would go in fine but would have a taller diff. What does taller diff mean and what would it affect when fitting it and general running of the car?

its just the gear ratios that will be longer or shorter meaning lower revs and higher speeds visversa

So (and sorry to be a complete newbie) it would fit fine if it has a taller differential gear? with no modifications needed?

Mate never heard about taller diffs iv fitted four different gearboxs from different engine sized 6ns and never had a problem
