so with all this shit weather weve been having recently and the amount of road salt thats been thrown down, I'm quite scared about putting my Steffans on for U.D.

so my question is, if theres still salt on the roads when U.D time comes about...if i give them a good waxing, should that prevent the salt eating them.

ill be using the Meguairs stuff and U.D is only about a 30-40mile round trip for me so I'm hoping if i put enough on, thatll stop them getting fucked.

hope that makes sense and someone can shine a light...need to learn the does and dont with owning polished rims.

oh yeah, i knew you meant that sort of polished, iv'e just hand polished some allys, i would of thought Autosol would keep them from the wheather

autosol just takes off whats already there, it doesn't protect as such. But back to the OP, they'll be fine as long as you give them a quick polish and wax before and after each leg of the trip.

looool just realised your only in wolves....telfords not too far!!!!!! good polish and some poorboys and you'll be fine ^^^ and as above they will be easier to clean and tidy up once your there...if they get covered in road crap that is.

Rob, give them a going over with the Meg's all metal polish, then a layer (or 2) of Poorboys wheel sealent, the pink stuff. That's not just limited to the polished parts either, it works on all finishs and makes it much easier to wash road grime off.. i just used some water with shampoo in a squirty bottle to wash any dirt off, then some quick detailer to shine them up

if you got room in your car take the wheels in the back and run some steelies if it comes to it and swap over when you get there

They're all quite similar mate it just depends on budget.. alot of people use QD's as a water-less wash after driving to shows but IMO, if the car or wheels are waxed then actual water is much better as it will lift much more dirt off the car in it's own flow than wiping the car or wheel with QD on a microfibre..

Plus water is a hell of a lot cheaper! I just got like a litre of water with some shampoo in, give the wheels a quick rinse to lift the muck off and dry them.. then use the QD to shine them up.. in which case, almost any QD will do the job.. then add some tyre shine

I mirror polished these wheels a few years ago

Then ran the car with the wheels on throughout all weathers *major shock eh?* EVEN through the WINTER

They ended up like this after a couple of months of non washing/polishing

I then just washed and then polished them with belgum alu (about a fiver off ebizzle) and they came out as good as the time when i just finished mirror polishing them

Road salt is way over rated i think, sure it'll do damage but only over a few years of sheer dis-treatment

Main reason i dont run stuff through winter is before i had my Steffans polished i kerbed the tits out of one in the show :(

stop being a pussy and run them, I ran my TT comps in all weathers, just kept on top of them...

yeah salt and break dust damages lacquered rims, at least you can polish out the imperfections on a mirror polished surfaces. stop being a pussy.

I ran the segins on my leon bare metal polished and never had a problem just wipe them off after every trip to keep the dirt off. Autosol once a week to keep the shine
