6n Rust

Featured Replies

I've got some rust coming through the paint work on the sills. its discoloured the paint as its not quite on the surface I'm just wondering how can I tell if its surface or major. I don't want to start striping the paint if I need a new panel. Has anyone else had this problem. And how did you go about the rapiar practically and cost wise. I've got a really clean well kept example of the 6n so its come as a shock. I had a rover mini and they rot like tomatoes. the arches and under side look fine.

Any help will be appreciated.

Cheers.

the 6n's are famous for the sill and arches rusty quite bad and also the bottom of the door

best thing to do is get something really small and sharp and jab the sill where it will be less noticeable and obviously if it makes a small hole or even digs in deep it will be pitted into the metal if not then it will be surface, you'd be looking at about £150-£200 to for one sill to have the rust removed as long as no weldeing is involved, fix the area round about it, primer paint lacquer etc and also to have the stone guard added on again before it gets painted
