Pistons for very early Polo/Golf/Derby

Featured Replies

I am looking for pistons to fit Polo/Derby/Jetta/Golf engines built between 1975 and 1983.

The pistons were made by Mahle and the original size (69.51mm) had a Mahle part number 0294300. The ones I need are one size up (70.01mm) and had the Mahle part number 0294312.

Anyone have any ideas where I might find these.

For your interest I need these to rebuild a 1929 Meadows 4ED engine!!!

I don't know that I really want to buy a whole engine, when all I need is just one of these pistons as I already have 3. Do you know where your "new pistons" came from. Maybe they would have more.

sorry i dont know, it was rebuilt a far few years back but has never been run, id sell the bottom end for 75 quid which will give you 4 spare pistons and rings if its the correct one,

sorry i cant be more help, i dont have the details of the original engine builder anymore

I never thought of eBay in Europe. The only problem we may have is that the pistons we already have were made by Mahle and the ones you have found are from Kolbenschmidt. Although the basic dimensions may be the same the rings and weight may be different. So I am wondering if we would have a problem having 3 x Mahle pistons and plus 1 from Kolbenschmidt. I am also contacting Kolbenschmidt for their opinion.

Anyway, many thanks for your help.

Just use the full set of pistons in the auction - I doubt he will split them anyway.
