I have been trying to get a diagram for my Polo that some local darlings ripped the ignition and switchgear apart and after a lot of looking found this.

I don't think that link works from an external site and I couldn't find a link to it from the main site.

But it does look like an interesting site, hopefully this link works and on that page I found a (German language) repair manual with some useful alternative diagrams and photos to those in Haynes, including wiring diagrams. There are plenty of exploded diagrams that I don't recall seeing in Haynes, and it even has exploded diagrams of OEM fogs and headlight adjusters! It's the link at the bottom that says "Volkswagen Polo 1981-1994 (ger.) Руководство по ремонту. 22 Mb". I'll be saving and keeping this!

Most of the other links on there look like they're taken from Haynes, but I didn't check them all.
