Dunno if its a first - but the first one iv seen

Looks a good job so far dude 8-)

should be a fast car once done.

I have never seen it done before.

I always wondered if it would be possible to fit a 1.8 16v in a mk2 polo

it will be a first trust me , well in the uk

and it will be fast as f**k

AV BEEN SORTING OUT MY LOOM 2DAY WHAT A BI=CH THE L8 MODEL 6N WIERING IS,

IF ANY 1 CAN HELP ME OUT PLZ COMMENT,

AM NOT SURE WERE TO ADD MY KR LOOM,

DO I ADD IT TO THE BK OF THESE PLUGS

Image003-3.jpg

Image005-2.jpg

OR DO I NEED TO PULL ALL THE 6N ENGINE LOOM OUT AND ADD IT TO THE BACK OF HERE

Image004-3.jpg

I've GOT A HYNES BUT AM JUST NOT SURE WHERE EXACT TO ADD IT

ALL HELP WOULD BE TOOK ON BOARD THANX

I'm assuimg your modifing all the mounts? what ones r u using? u guna use the golf subframe

  • Author

yeah al be modding the mounts, but i wont be using the golf subframe al be mounting it like how the original polo engine is mounted

Not bad, like your chain of thoughts.....mk2 polo with a kr In....easy...well nit

easy but doable with the right knowhow  do it! That would be intense!

Keeping my eye on this

Good effort, nice to see someone having a try at something out of the norm. Those engine mounts look way off from being any use though whilst its sat on a tyre/jacks. I trust you are good with a welder?

Have you got that lump cheap? I would have got a 9A from a Corrado or ABF from a mk3 Golf if going to this much effort though.

Am back done a bit more modding av just got a 16v o2a gearbox now so i can go all the way now

av dne my mounts i just need to do a few more things to get the positioning rite but its getting there,

SDC10750.jpg

SDC10746.jpg

more to follow i just need to sort out my cammera

how you mounting the drivers side? Shafts? Cooling? Reckon that gearbox one will hold? could do with beefing up.....

As for the wiring, you need an early spec polo loom and a 90 spec kr loom if you ever hope to get this right.

You'll have to splice out the lighting and ancillaries from the polo loom as mk2's have two looms, one is the engine, one is the lights.

  • Author

i know that mount wants beefing up its just like that till i get it all lined up,

but for the wiering av got it sorted av just pulled the 6n engine management wiers out and added the kr loom but seen as the kr engine loom dnt have much wiers av only spliced the ecu live and used the 6n loom to controll all the snsors job done

I was gonna say that gearbox mount will defiantly need beefy up. Is there any way you can move the engine across abit or do something to the chassis leg, those bolts look awfully close..

YO peeps am back in the game yet againe, i lost alil intrest in my 1 off project but hay am back with 100% motivation so here goes just a few lil up dates on my behalf, lol

rite engine is fully in its new home,

100_1058.jpg

100_1059.jpg

its getting there just a few things to tidy up thought i would try out a new paint i found laying around at work,

100_1056.jpg

also came accross a cheap ish set of tt leathers am not to keen on these but till i get my hands on a nice pair of buckets they will have to do

100_0997.jpg

also while i was falling out of love with my conversion i thought hay what the heck get some power and yes i got me some.............

SDC10902.jpg

SDC10903.jpg

let the games begin,,,,,,,,,,, B)

looks like a fun little project you've got there  its what enjoying car modding is all about

what is that color you have found cant make my mind up wether its green or gold

it's not a first but still good to see it being done (there's one with a turbo on it too), personally i would of got an early polo wiring loom, they use the same fuse box as the late spec mk2 golfs so it would of made it plug and play wiring wise. have you got the engine sitting high enough? now your not running the injection you will have a lot of space above the engine to lift it up some more and give you more sump clearance, it might be worth thinking about while your in this early stage, the more clearance you have underneath with this conversion the better tbh

either way this is going to be one quick car when its done, fair play for getting stuck in and giving it a go yourself mate

can you get a 1.9 diesel in there gear box wise it does narf give them krs a bit of tourque i take it thats a kr conversion i had one in me caddy i,ll try get the spec for yer as we had to fettle it for the adaption but was a lovely tight fit and nice gear change and boy did she move off them lights meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeow

  • Author

rite then were do i start well here goes ill big up all those with possitve comments,

and now the rest lets go,lol

the couler is nato green.

the conversion i have never seen a uk car with this engine in it + carbs so if there is another 1 pls point me in the direction of the man who has done it in a 6n polo not a mk2,3

anyway moving on nice and easy, the loom is all sorted i only had to chop the polo engine management out of the look leaving in the plugs for the sensors and all the ignition gear, the add the mk2 16v tci modual and the ecu you to controll the fueling and add my bike fuel am hay presto job done

as for sump clearence i need enuff space to fit my carbs under the hood so as I've got it now its ok as the car is lowerd about 60mm the sump is about 4 or so inches of the floor but when i mount the carbs ill re position it to suit the .

more updates to come stay tuned :-D 8-) :-)

Nice work mate, we had a set up like this lined up but when we worked it out the trouble wasn't worth the power that was going to come from it..

Which engine and box you using?

9A and O2J?

absolute fair play, i didn't think this would actually ever get anywhere but you have proven me wrong.

I'd like to see it on standard injection though, carbs is an easy option.

What you doing with regards to the clutch?

Seat cable/hydro conversion or fitting a mk5 polo pedal box with a hydraulic cylinder?
