Do Non-Hubcentric spacers cause wheel wobble?

Featured Replies

 I love it when people say stuff like this is major dangerous and stuff

I had 5mm spacers on a car for about year, it didnt wobble, it wasnt dangerous (time and mileage of the use proved this by the fact I'm still friggin alive) and the car went through an MOT ok with them on

Knowones saying that the spacers are dangerous. Well I'm not anyway lol.

Fitting wheels with a larger centrebore and using non hubcentric spacers is dangerous.

^^^^ No it isn't dangerous just a bit harder wearing on your running gear! Thh centre bore has

nothing to do with holding the wheels on it's a fitting aid that's it!

yeh they shuld be fine as long as you make sure you centre everything correctly and and macke sure you have enough thread in the hub.

Can cause wobbling though if your centre bore is out though, which is why we buy spigot rings isn't it?

yeah, IMO if your wheels are wobbling there gonna come off at some point.

Technically, if your wheels aren't sat on the hub and you hit a big bump, the strain will all go on the wheel bolts, which can cause them to snap. If the wheel is on the hub, you know it won't move no matter what force is put on it!

I'm not saying that what I just said is correct, but it just seems logical?

No spigot rings aren't needed if the wheels are fitted correctly! This is what I'm trying to say! All these things are just there so you don't hav to go to the effort of centering And torqueing up properly! Think about it when you take your wheels of you would notice indentations on the hub if it moved!

would you trust a piece of plastic to be safe if the wheels moving? they would crack in no time! check an old thread of mine out and horneys posts inparticular afterthis i did some research and found hes on the money!

or even this one, (quick google search) 2nd and 3rd post inparticular!

hope that helps clear some stuff up!

Fitting wheels with a larger centrebore and using non hubcentric spacers is dangerous.

Do you have any proof? or strong reasoning for this?

Because going off my experience, id say that youre full of shit, according to my experience that is anyway

But hey, maybe I've been lucky in the case of running wheels with bigger centre bores and having non hubcentric spacers equalling in no harm what so ever to me, the cars, the roads, the people in other cars on the roads, the other cars on the roads and all the cute little kittens

Or do you have a different meaning for the word 'dangerous' to the one i have? :disgust:

This argument will never end because there will always be some dipshit who can't put wheels on properly and ends up having an accident, and blames the spacers.

craig don't worry about him, he's been switching from one side of the fence to the other all the way through this thread. it's verging on comical tbh

as for spacers, i've ran them on a few cars and never had an issue, no gay torque wrench here just my right foot lol. although on the flip side we did fit some spacer's to my mates caddy van at edition and they wobbled like fuck to the point that he had to pull over and take them off on the way home, that may of had more to do with us fitting them while pissed up

God, some people on here.

I run 8mm non-hubcentrics on my wheels, I know if you know what your doing with them there fine, but its people who dont that are the problem.

Using them without having the correct bore is just dangerous IMO thats the only thing i said, Why do you act like people aren't allowed to put there opinions forward and that you own the site?

I only 'talk' to people behind a comp full stop, I'm too scared to talk to people face to face in any situation :-(

What sort of moron must you be to 'talk' different to someone face to face than you do behind a computer???? :disgust:

I'm not a 'clever idiot', clearly, because i dont understand what you want me to look at in that link you posted??? did you post the right thing? because unless I've mised it, its just a similar sort of thread to this one???

I was expecting you to post up some proof or strong reasoning for fitting wheels with larger centre bores and using non hubcentric spacers being dangerous, like i asked :doubt:

I noticed Guy

With none hub centric spacers you also have to remember to centre the spacer and not just the wheel. If you don't then this its self can cause wheel wobble as the wheel (or everything that is attached to the hub) is now out of balance.

Personally I really don't like these universal spacers I just find them a bit of a bodge.

LMAO, I'm actually laughin because this thread started off as serious help for indy.. Now its just people with too much time on there hands arguein.

Brooker if you go onto venommotorsport.com and look at spacers for Polo's, there's a decent guide to the different types of spacers :)

Thanks i will do, will be more helpful.

I'm not on about universal spacers mate.

I'm on about actual 4 x 100 spacers, but just without the hub locating ring!

those are still hubcentric spacers then. Hubcentric are things that are designed to fit the existing hub. You can't get hubcentric spacers WITH an extended lip on anything less than circa 10mm.. so if you have 8/5/3 mm spacers that are a tight fit over the existing hub lip then they are hubcentric. Non-Hubcentric are those universal ones that you get off ebay/halfords for £5.

Just use a load of washers,be alright..
