hi all will a 1.4lt throttle body and injector work on my gt?

as I'm using a 1.3spi unit at the min and the power is dying around 3500rpm

it will only be used untill i can get the bits to put the bike carbs on as i dont want to run it a lean as what it has been running

i ran a golf 1.4 injector on my mk3 spi with a gt cam . simalar i geus

did it make much difference with the 1.4 injector?

i duno as i ported and polishd my head and fitted cam at the same time :-)

just found out the 1.4 injector is exactly the same as the 1.3 spi one :( just wasted £20 gutted

yep and use the same throttle body and injector as a 1.3 spi

might try a 1.6 injector as it is running proper lean spark plugs were white as when i cleaned them yesterday

unless any one could advise which injector would work best

If you are using a larger injector, don't you need to remap the ECU to accomodate it?

Or can you somehow increase the fuel pressure using the standard injector?

i would of guessed with the injector designed with greater flow that it would just pump more fuel in

o well might just leace it till i get the bike carbs on next week

I just realised this was on a GT lol thats MPI as standard aint it.. so you've just put an SPI manifold and TB on to the GT block and head?

What ECU are you using, the GT one or one from a standard 1.3?

I'm using the spi one only reason for using spi stuff is that folk want to much for gt stuf i only need a t.b. ecu, loom and air flow meter and poeple want over £100 for it its cost me that to get all the parts together for the carb conversion lol

I would of guessed that the 1.4 ABD TB and Injector would have been the same as the AAV.

Just because it has a larger capacity doesn't necessarily mean that it would use a different TB and injector.

You mentioned the 1.6 TB and injector, what car runs this as an SPI unit out of curiosity?

I'm not sure till i go and have a look around the scrap yard but I'm hoping to get the bike carbs on instead now i think

Max, I think the 6N AEA runs 1.6SPI mate.. but I would imagine the throttle body and injector would be exactly the same as the AEV and ADX polo SPIs..

Yeah I would just get on the bike carbs dude! As long as you are not running so lean that you are knocking or overheating I wouldn't worry for a short amount of time. Maybe the fuel trims will kick in and start to enrichen the mixture anyway.

Bike carbs seem to be great but you need to put the effort in. Not saying you wont or anything lol. Just saying it seems that they take alot of work.

it is knocking slightly and i have had to replace the piston rings because of it running lean and dont want to fork out another £100 for some more

dont mind puttin the work in to get the carbs on as i like to play around with engines and stuff as I'm building a g40 turbo with bike throttle body's and green emerald ecu
