Buying car with no MOT

Featured Replies

Looking at buying a car which has ran out of MOT. Before I buy the car.. is there a way I can check whether it has been taken in for an MOT and failed?

I'm guessing the car would be issued a VT30 (Failed), can you view these details online just as you could view the details of it's VT28 Pass Certificate (if it had one) ?

Or is there at least some way of getting hold of these details before actually buying it? How can you go about doing it?

Basically need to know whether it would be trouble to get re-tested, and whether it keeps failing on a certain problem as mine currently is lol.

dont think you can view it online, as the mot garage dont publish it online. only way would be to ask the garage it had the mot done at.

you can check it here:

http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/

it will tell you the complete mot history for the car, including any fails and advisories :)
