I'm thinking of fitting some 16v rear lights on my mk4 8v polo,

is this a straight forward swap?

yep straight swap but just a little tip if they are old lights and the seals are abit tatty, if you have some silicone put just a little abit around the rubbery/foam seal on the back of the light then tighten em up nice n tight so you can stop water getting in!
