I were browsing a mini forum just now looking for a full set of jets for my carb set-up.

And some-one had asked if it was safe to flip there steel wheels around, mounting them on the opposite side so technically it would turn a wheel with an offset of ET25 into ET-25.

He stated that it could be possible because steel wheels are hub-centric centring and not lug-centric centering like alloys that use taperd bolts.

Is it safe, possible? lol

I'm gonna check what the front of them are like ,if it would be suitable to mount onto a hub.

It sounds like a terrible idea to me! The only proper reason other than it seeming wrong I can think of is the bolt holes are rounded on the outer side to seat the bolts, and won't be on the inner side. Depending on the wheel design there will also probably be a big gap between the holes and the hub so the bolts won't screw in as far.

impossible, because of the design of a steel wheel u wont be able to do it without removing the brakes, and if u did u would have to put drums all round on

how come? wont custom spacers move them far away enough?

Even if you did this the inside of steels look gay.It would be better to get the centers cut and welded further back or just banded hah

try it tho might look ok ,you would just have to find steels that look good turned round and ones that would fit the breaks

lol think ill just stick with them the right way round.

I cant think of a reason why they woundnt work as long as you spaced them away from the hubs.

Ill test it then post some pics.

Apart from being really stupid they most likely not have the correct flat face to mount to the hub and if they did when you add spacers to clear the callipers they are going to be like -50et which just might poke out a bit..

Personally I like my wheels the right way round!

i've got some wellers which are from a mini and the face is the same on the inside as it is the outside so i could run them back to front if i wanted. would look pretty fucking stupid though.

it used to be common place for mini owners to run reverse wheels, this is basically cutting the centre out of the steel wheel and welding it back in the other way round. Its the only safe way to do it. you'd have to be bonkers to just turn the wheel around and bolt it back on imo

he might of been on about the reverse cooper steels ,there reversed for dif offsets etc
