Alright guys, this is something we made at work and used in formula student. Came first .

It weighs 217 kilos.

And has a supercharged 250cc pitbike engine ( capacity capped at that ).And all thats comes out of that exhaust is boiling water.

Also includes an eaton m24 that we had custom made by eaton for free! , smallest one theyve ever made lol.

Runs off 2 hydrogen 250bar canisters , developing 25bhp.

thats around 115bhp per metric tonne.

If it was running from gasoline it would be around 90bhp

Further more if it was methanol 115bhp.

Absolutely everything was custom made bar the break calipers.

That's awesome! How does the engine work? The pitbike engine fuelled with hydrogen? I'm a bit confused

instead of being run of the mikuni carb, its fuel injected using compressed hydrogen instead of petrol , pretty easy to be honest.

Ah didn't realise it was that simple! do the internals have to be altered at all? Is it just mixed with oxygen to detonate or something like chlorine? Sorry for all the questions I'm just really interested in stuff like this haha.

Its all i do at work lol, experiment with stuff like this. The main job of my the company is to develop the apparatus that makes splits the hydrogen from air in the first place.

Well there is quite alot of work to be done.

Its relatively simple in the way it works but it takes alot of work if you get me.

But in essence you just replace the gasoline injectors with hydrogen injectors run by solenoids.

Our company (ITM POWER) sponsored the older guys who were knowledge transfer students (KTP's) to build this, along with the help of the others who had either already done the motor-sport degree or the ones studying towards it (me and a few mates).

Took about 6 weeks to design and 3 to build. It sounds truly awesome.

And yeah lol everyone at Hertfordshire does motor-sport.

Well it seems that way anyway. that or banging all the stunning birds there.
