Airbag deployed and power steering failed

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, my problem is I have a 55 plate Polo GT TDi and during the snowy period I lost the back end and went into a post. This made the airbag come out of the passenger seat and at the same time the power steering cut off. I thought it maybe a safety procedure the car goes through so took the battery off for a week and put it back on to see if the steering had rectified itself with it being electronic...it didnt. Anyone any ideas as to why the steering wouldnt be working?

Cheers,

Andy

IIRC, we had a Polo in at work that had had the airbags deployed, and that had taken out the PAS. It is part of a safety system. I seem to recall we had to replaced a fuse, as well as the airbags, and seat belt pre-tensioners. With those replaced and a recoded to the car the PAS was back up and running. I couldn't tell you what fuse was replaced though, sorry.

Cheers mate that gives me a bit of an insight. All i want to do is get the power steering sorted then i will just throw a couple of bucket seats in the front. Is it possible to get the power steering back on without having to replace the pre-tensioners and airbag etc?

Cheers,

Andy
