i know there M8 but what pitch thread?

haven't had chance to strip my set-up down to check. :-(

i am shore its a M10not shore what pitch and is 30mm long

They're rather strange,i wouldn't be surprised if they were M9 with a 1.25 thread. They have a 15mm or 16mm head and are about 20mm long.

Have a look on ETKA or VAG cat, it'll be on there.

looks like I'm gonna have to get my hands on one for sure aint it. Might even drill them out and re-tap them to a bigger size.

be warned these 4 bolts that hold the stubaxle on are high tensile bolts your be putting more strain on them by fitting stubaxle spacers so find higher tensile or the same

DO NOT FIT NE OLD LONGER BOLTS OR THERE SNAP then your be in trobble lol

That'd be a really daft idea.

Thought you were an engineer? Can't you just get some of the right grade hex bar and spin some up?

And also, why would re-tapping them to a bigger size and using a more common high tensile thread be a bad idea lol?

Forget I said that, you're the engineer, carry on.

Bloody glad we had a bolt tree at my old work, think of all the time I'd have wasted trying to cut threads when the right sized one didn't drop from the sky.

Main reason was on the spot availability of weird sizes, thread pitches and lengths. Particularly when we were building prototype stuff.

Granted, you can buy anything for a price, but when you want one of something, now, and you've got the tools on hand, it's often as easy to get a bit of hexagon bar and let the thread cutter do its thang.

Is a bit like saying why tap a bigger hole in your rear beam when you can buy any sized bolt you'll ever need.

mate i know what your saying, but beleive it or not, engineering companys dont stock every needed size of hexagon bar when its easyer and cheaper to orde the correct bolts we need. And also , the hex bar would need to be of the correct material, something like 316 stainless steel or of a high grade steel , something that has great sheat capabilties. Which we dont have to hand. We would also need the correct threaded die to cut the thread , and if its a dodgey thread, again we wont have it.

Also, about re-tapping the beam, i was thinking more about stregth, maybe upping the size to a very fine m10.

I've made plenty of bolts (as in hundreds) from round bar. If it's actually that hard to get the size you need, what's stopping you machining them, providing you have the correct tooling?

Machining what? The hex on the end of the bolt?

I'm not even gonna asnwer that. And i wasnt the one saying it was gonna be hard to get the correct legth bolt with the correct thread and pitch.

So you can't machine hexes now? Wow, best tell someone I can do magic then.

:-s of course you can, but youd need either a 3 axis miller with a turn table or special bolt manufacturing machines , on a 2 axis miller or lathe its gonna be a pretty shit hex, which leads us back to the start . It also would take along time to make the 8 bolts i would need.

I dont know what your getting at? You saying it would be easyer to do that then buy in the bolts or re-tap to a bigger thread and use the bolts we have in stock?

All I'm saying is if you are struggling to get what you need, and have access to appropriate tooling, give it a go. All you need is a dividing head for your 60° rotations, as long as the round bar is true within a few thou, it will be a good hex.

Would if we had rotary table and the correct tappind die mate. ill see if iv got enough room to rektap to M10

There just standard m10 x 1.5's.
