Right, went to view my new polo in Milton Keynes yesterday, and it needs trailering back. I'm in Corsham (a 90 mile drive), and have no means of getting it home, so need to use a company.

I've rung round a few places, and quotes have been just over £100. I saw this add on ebay (as well as a few others), and text him like it says on there.

He gave me a ring back, and said if i want it done tuesday (tomrw), he can do it cheap (£70) because he is already going that way.

I'm a bit concerned because there's nothing to stop him just taking it. I'm not racist, but to be honest, he was foreign, which did make me think twice (not because foreign people aren't trustworthy! But it just made me think).

He has no feedback for transporting cars, and the only thing that makes it legitimate is the number he rang me from, was the same as the one on the side of the truck in the pictures.

What would your opinions be?

Or anyone know of a good company/mates with trailers, anyone on the forum, people used before etc.? The one I used to deliver my mk1 golf can do it for £110, but not 'til friday.

my mums chap does this, he charges a pound a mile from picking the car up to dropping it off. he's had loads of expensive shit on the back of his truck and never just drove off with it

He is doing it through eBay which makes him seem a bit reliable. But I doubt he will just drive away with your car...just report it if he does.

Yeh, but if he did drive off, i wouldn't have a leg to stand on. He would have the car, the keys, and all the documents! Surely if he's so popular that he has a delivery going my way within 3 days of me asking means he would have some feedback?!

Also, the seller will be at work tomorrow so will have to leave/hide the keys somewhere. The delivery bloke could just say it wasn't there when he got there and it must have been stolen before?

Also, there is nothing stopping me making an advert like that? He might not be insured, he could damage the car etc etc.

Mate, if you're concerned then don't use them. Use a more reputable company and pay a bit extra

Yeh, that's exactly my thoughts, its just frustrating cause i want the car asap so i can stop getting the bus to work/college haha. But yeh, the people i said who i've used before said they might be able to do it friday, but its only a maybe, and depends on how the rest of their deliveries go..

It all comes down to how much of a risk you want to take/how much you want to spend. I've trailered a few cars to help mates out, but its not a business so i have no insurance for goods in transit etc. If anything happens and for example he has an accident with your car on the back,is he insured to replace your vehicle? lots of the one man bands on ebay i'd say don't have it!

or like my mums chap they are a mechanic and do recovery and a bit of scrap to earn extra money.

Get Green flag cover, mine was £30

get it towed home! they go all over the place green flag do

Edit: you wont even need the top spec one as that includes home start and it wont be started from home will it!
